Paypal phishing scam
Today I rec;d an email purported to be from Paypal. It is a phishing scam. The part that totally threw me was that I would not be allowed to remove my banking acct, credit card... or close my acct!
"Your Ρaypal account has been Iimited because we've noticed significant changes in your account activity. As your payment processor, we need to understand these changes better.
This account Iimitation will affect your ability to:
send or receive money
withdraw money
Also, you won't be able to:
remove any bank accounts
remove credit cards
close your account."
There was a LOG IN bar--which, of course, I did not do. I went directly to the Paypal site to find that all was well, as suspected. I don't think these people are very smart--not as smart as we are, anyway. Please be careful. Clicking the 'log in' will install malware on your computer and your ID will be compromised. Just warning.

I get phone calls, which I do not answer, but the message left says they can reduce the interest rate on my credit card and there is a limited time to do it. Funny I should get this message because I do not have any credit cards!!!!! Has to be a scam. Thank goodness for caller ID.

Thanks. I do a lot of shopping on eBay using my PayPal account. So easy to panic and click on the link. That is why I try to keep a low profile on the web. Keep changing TV/internet provider so my email address keeps changing.

Contact Paypal about this email.
[email protected] is the place to report such activities. I do this every time I get something suspicious about my Paypal account. They will ask for a copy of the email usually asking to forward the suspicious email to them so they scour it for clues.
