I have allergies and asthma. If a respatory attach comes I am terribly sick for a month. Once I was sick 3 times in 18 months...that's enough of that bad luck! You can bet that I get a flu shot.Upon the advice of the pharmacist I took the regular shot not the newest one that was untried. Also I wash hands when I come in the house immediately. Its a good habit to develop.Hand knit wool socks in winter, shawl/scarf to increase warmth over the shoulders of a coat...bundling up for sure.

Other than dh we all got our shots and do every year. The one year I didn't get one, I had the flu and was on my back for a long time-I truly wished for death. DH was even sicker than I was. My kids had the shot and they had a fever for about 4 hours and that was it. I started out getting the shots after my second round of pneumonia-since I now have 2 scarred lungs my dr says to always get the shot (the year I didn't was when there was a shortage). My oldest dd has asthma so she automatically gets it too. Someone at another board I go to lost his 5 yo child from flu complications. :(
contrary to what some believe, it's impossible to get the flu from the shot-it's a killed vaccine. If someone gets the flu around the same time, it's a complete coincidence.

by the way, the risk of dying from flu complications is much higher than having any complications from the vaccine (for the vast majority of people). I am pretty sure I read that it was about 30,000 to 40,000 that die from the flu or complications from the flu each year.

I got mind and thank you for the reminder. :) I'm sure we all know people who have been very sick, for taking the shot and not taking the shot. but last year a friend of my sons, (she was 39) died from the swine flu, She also had Asthma. My granddaughter missed so much school from the swine flu she had to drop out (7th grade) and do on line schooling. Guess there are pro's and con's for all of us. We each have to do what we feel is best for us. Sorry some of you had such a bad experience.

Got mine Had to as I am the caretaker of my dh who doesn't have any immune system left thanks to two years of chemo back in 2001-2003.He has to have a flu shot and also a pneumonia shot. The flu shot every year and I think the pneumonia shot is every 10 years but don't quote me on that. We have to try to stay as well as we can. I haven't even had a cold since I started getting flu shots. Thanks to God.

Never get a flu shot. Do you know what's in a flu shot? I know they contain mercury - a neurotoxin that damages brain and nerve cells plus more chemicals our body does not know what to do with. I read that 36,000 Americans are killed every year from the flu.
Government statistics lump flu and pneumonia deaths together, but flu deaths are only a small fraction of the total. In 2001 the total number of flu deaths was 267
I feel it is like everything else - Follow the money. Eat good food, drink water and get your sleep.
Exercise helps too and deep breathing to get oxygen into your body. Take responsibility for your own health.
