    If you can take any type of childbirth classes, they really help. You learn to breathe correctly and not fight the contractions. If you can relax during the contractions they will be able to do what they are supposed to do, help deliver a beautiful baby. I had my first in 72, ether and all, she was breech birth,butt first. The next time I went to an ob not a general practitioner, I had twins(stillborn) but no meds. The next two pregnancies I had again no medicine, the last one weighed 9 lbs. 2 oz. so I quit. But you really need to think about the meds, how it effects the babies. I know from experience that it does effect them.

    I don't know which to say boy or girl or either of you.

    Drug vs. Natural...I had both my daughters (sm. 5 lb babies) without drugs. My 1st dd was 13hrs 13mins. total back labor...very painful
    11months later, dd #2 was 1hr. 30mins...no pain but a sense of urgency to get to the hospital...
    Oh and dh was muttleminded with both times of hearing "it's time".

    OMG so exciting! I'm going to say you both have beautiful baby girls.
    And they can grow up together on this quilting forum. Good luck to you both! :thumbup:

    Yes I think so amma. Mine was blue like a huge beach ball or one of those Space Hoppers but without the 'horns' - did you guys have those things? :-D It was excellent for relieving lower back pain and it is reputed to open up the pelvic area and help the baby get into a really good position. :-D You just sit on it and kind of rock your hips forward, backwards, round and round, whatever floats your boat! I looked REALLY attractive - i was enormous! And yes there are photos and no I'm not showing any! :mrgreen:

    Don't believe the heart rate thing LOL My baby's heart rate was always above 150 and I had a boy - even the Doctor said about the heart rate but BOY!!LOL He has been that active since Birth too!

    I am thinking girl because you arent soccer ball round, most people I know who have girls spread out, and the boy mummies have soccer balls. LOL

    I want HEALTHY. I'm no spring chicken and am already have some slight health problems (diabetes and blood pressure).

    My son has food allergies that we didn't figure out until he was 9 mo. old and he screamed 18+ hours a day because his stomach hurt. Poor boy! He is also a very demanding child (typical first born!!).

    Healthy, laid back personality, and then it doesn't matter, boy or girl. We only have a girl name picked out (Savannah Faith), but I have EVERYTHING saved from when Mo was little, so I wouldn't need anything but diapers and wipes if we had a boy.

    Andrea and Mel==
    what nursery themes do you have picked out for boy/girl? And how much time do you plan to take off after the birth??

    Well, we're Canadian, so I'm pretty sure we both get a year off.
    I've planned a Ferngully rainforest theme for my baby, boy or girl. Once we find out, I will decide if I put more flowers and fairies or tree frogs and bats in the mural. I haven't started anything yet because I really want to know the gender before starting :)

    You are so lucky!!! I have been told by the "wonderful" school system that I work for that I get 60 days (FMLA). If I need the 60 days (or more)before the baby is born then I lose my job. I was told I could take a leave of absence for a year but they wouldn't hold my job. If I were a classroom teacher I probably could get a job at another school in same system, but since I am a librarian, another librarian would have to leave for me to have a job. If it comes down to bedrest for the sake of me or the baby, I don't have to think twice--bye bye job!!!
