Hi Everyone...A friend sent me this and I thought it was cute...We do have to love ourselves as we are but need to lose the weight to get healthy... HAPPY READING!

EVERY woman needs to read this!

If you share my concern for putting on extra pounds you will love this !

Recently, in a large city in France , a poster featuring a young, thin and tan woman appeared in the window of a gym.

It said, "This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?"

A middle-aged woman, whose physical characteristics did not match those of the woman on the poster, responded publicly to the question posed by the gym.

To Whom It May Concern:
Whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, sea lions, curious humans.) They have an active sex life, get pregnant and have adorable baby whales. They have a wonderful time with dolphins stuffing themselves with shrimp. They play and swim in the seas, seeing wonderful places like Patagonia, the Bering Sea and the coral reefs of Polynesia .

Whales are wonderful singers and have even recorded CDs.
They are incredible creatures and virtually have no predators other than humans. They are loved, protected and admired by almost everyone in the world.

Mermaids don't exist. If they did exist, they would be lining up outside the offices of Argentinean psychoanalysts due to identity crisis. Fish or human? They don't have a sex life because they kill men who get close to them, not to mention how could they have sex? Just look at them ... where is IT? Therefore, they don't have kids either.

Not to mention, who wants to get close to a girl who smells like a fish store?

The choice is perfectly clear to me: I want to be a whale.

P..S. We are in an age when media puts into our heads the idea that only skinny people are beautiful, but I prefer to enjoy an ice cream with my kids, a good dinner with a man who makes me shiver, and a piece of chocolate with my friends.

With time, we gain weight because we accumulate so much information and wisdom in our heads that when there is no more room, it distributes out to the rest of our bodies. So we aren't heavy, we are enormously cultured, educated and happy.

Beginning today, when I look at my butt in the mirror I will think, ¨Good grief, look how smart I am!¨

That's great, Lori. Funny--but it's all really true and a little sad that young girls are given this false "ideal" body to aim for. We need more healthy images--thanks for the humor and the common sense!

A few years ago I was hooked on the Biggest Looser show, not that we had to loose the weight, my DD (she weighed 105)watched it so I did. Last night I watched it for the first time in years and it made me feel better about only losing about 2 pounds per week. The contestants are training hours upon hours per day. They are instructed on exactly what to eat, and do for weight control. They have no cookies, ice cream or other foods just sitting around tempting them. Yet even though some lose a lot of weight within a week others loose only a few pounds ( I consider 4 a few pounds especially with the amount of weight they have to loose) If WE meaning all of us on this forum are losing a pound or 2 per week we should be tickled pink, we are doing great and we are doing it on own own. NO TRAINER just us as one big group to encourage each other every step of the way.

Well ladies, I so appreciate you all keeping me on my toes. I really thought I had gone up a pound or two but weighed myself this morning and lost another 1 1/2 lbs. I can't believe it.

I was struggling this week with 'cabin fever' and even tho am not an emotional eater, found myself grazing and having the 'hand-to-mouth' disease or so I thought. Apparently was not the case.

Thanks for keeping me accountable to myself and the ones I love.
Keep on keeping on. We can do this.

Congratulations on your loss. That is wonderful. I find grapes helpful and also small pretzle sticks when I have to have the hand-to-mouth contact. I measure them out though because of my weight watcher points, but you actually get quite of few of each. Does anyone else have any suggestions to fulfill this type of grazing need?
