What a great day to celebrate. He was a severe diabetic since he was in 4th grade and was on 3 shots of insulin a day.

In 1989 both kidneys failed and was on home dialysis for 1 year and still worked a full time job

On September 18, 1990 he got a new chance in life! He got a new kidney and pancreas transplant at Indianapolis, Indiana.

He is no longer a diabetic and no longer on insulin!

He was one of the patients that made history for Methodist Hospital as the did the following transplants within 24 hours at the hospital and cancelled all other surgeries

1. my hubby got kidney and pancreas
2. guy got other kidney
3. guy got heart
4. lady got lung
5. another lady got lung

all of these organs from the same donor (he was drinking and riding his motorcyle and was brain dead) we are so thankful that he donated his organs for others

also skin, eyes, bone marrow was donated to other hospitals

(when the donor, Peter got his drivers license he told his parents he wanted to be an organ donor) we are so blessed that he was as he has helped out alot of patients

WOW! talk about doing a happy dance. I couldn't be happier for you both. God Bless both of you although He already seems to be doing just that. Time to celebrate !!! Love and Hugs!

Amazing and happy anniversary to you both. Perhaps this is a wake-up call to those of us who haven't signed a donor card to do so. What a wonderful final gift to give to so many, new life.

Wow, I bet people never stop to think about how many potential miracles they set in motion when they sign their donor card! Amazing to see all those lives saved by one donor's signature. I wish your hubby many many long and healthy years; and thank you for sharing his miraculous story with us.

WOW! God works in mysterious ways. My drivers license indicates I am an organ doner. I am a 50 year survivor of Open Heart surg. 5/1//60 - Mayo Clinic - I was 17 and a Sr. in HS. Hole between 2 lover chambers and am 68, my heart is still great. Now if I could get rid of the CIFS, I would be a happy camper.

Am so happy for you both. Blessings and hugs!

mayday 09-24-2010 08:40 AM

craftybear 10-08-2010 07:50 AM
