Oh, this brings back memories of 2 bad ice storms we have had. We now own a generator and anytime bad weather is a possibility, we make sure and have gas for it. Hope your power is restored soon. I know things seem bad now but in the future you will look back on this and laugh about how you had to rough it.

Sounds terrible to me...I am not one for camping either and it is COLD!!! Wishing you power right away!

Feel for you in your situation and that in a world full of technoligy and all kind of stupid gadgets which when it comes down to it don't do us any good and leave us in the cold

After several long bouts without power here, during an ice storm years ago we went 8 days in January with the same problems, no water, no heat, phone knocked out by a truck which caught the group of downed lines and a car who's transmission was fractured while trying to get the car out of the ice, we decided this year to go with a whole house generator that comes on automatically when power goes out. Of course now that we invested so much in this unit, we'll never have another power outage.

This would be a good time to drag out the Treadle or a handcrank, I bought a Treadle just for this reason. I hope you get power restored soon. Stay safe.

Thank goodness for fishponds and wading pools for toilet purposes! We used to hook up a car battery to the pellet stove for backup and used it more than once.

We have a generator too, it came with big heavy duty cords, no chance of them casuing a fire. Needed it once, was well worth the money to get it. Figured if we bought it we wouldn't need it. Just good insurance. At night I burn about every light in the house. I hate to go into a dark room.

We were without power a few years ago during the ice storm for about 10 days. I have a wood stove in the basement that heated the house and I cooked what little I could on it. The generator came in handy for frig and freezer, one lamp and tv, but heating water on wood stove and hauling it from the basement to the bathtub to bath in sucked out loud and of course like you I had extension cords running all over. Some people around us were without power for weeks! I HATE camping also. Hope you get your power on soon.

It sounded like you had a bad storm and to not have power for days is just so stressful and tiresome and when they can't tell you what the problem is or when to expect the power to come back on. I hope you get it back on soon. Sue
