Something that was said about giving as a gift something that you already owned makes me ask this question. As many of us are getting older, do you think it is all right to give some of our nicer things, some of our collectable china or crystal things for instance, to family members as a Christmas gift, or just let them wait until we die to get them?

She should have invited you to a Book club with her family and told you she would buy you diner.

I would feel honored if one of my relatives gave me an object out of love - valuable or not. I would also cherish any story that went with the object. My aunt gave me a cake plate that she used to serve her fabulous pineapple coconut cake. Everytime I look at or use that plate I have fond memories of her - she lives on in my heart. I hope your relatives will feel the same when you share your valued mementos.

I'm that kind of person also, go for it. ROFLMAO

It's interesting that she volunteered that information. Obviously she did not think anything wrong with what she had done. We all have our own viewpoints. Kinda makes you wonder.....

They live amongst us. You just have to know that their cultural education was sadly lacking, and feel sorry for them.

She could have, at the very least, removed the dust jacket before it was read by her entire family. Some people's kids. I swear!

Not the most appropriate thing, but hopefully it won't spoil your enjoyment of the book. Not something I would do.
