Any comments on your feelings about cell phones used while driving are more than welcome. I don't usually do it. I usually stop and use the phone. It annoys me to have to answer the phone while driving as I feel like I am juggling to do it. But my DD lives on her phone with 3 kids with medical issues and one of them is her autistic son. She can only be reached on her phone. She is always on the go. So it would be a hardship for her. It only takes a minute to pull over and talk. Not to mention they are expensive. |
CA banned all cell phone talking & texting a few years ago. We are "hands free only". It is amazing to see so many people still on their phones in the car. I almost got hit this week in a crosswalk by someone on their phone.

I wish they would ban them in Colorado!!

It is 100% in the enforcement - I am told we have seat belt laws here, but rarely see it enforced, and and day I was waiting at a light and 5 of 6 cars around me had drivers talking on the phone. I have also seen phone-using drivers refusing to pull over for emergency vehicles because their attention is already stretched beyond reason.

Seat belts are also mandatory in Australia, front and back, for over 30 years, although we have never been fined for that. |

No texting went into effect yesterday. Lets see how that gets enforced. Which is a shame, if they ticketed all those they pulled over, the state and county budgets might just balance......LOL |

I highly doubt a Mom with a van load of kids is doing business on the phone while the kids are jumping all over the van going down the street. |

Skill level has nothing to do with it. It is the distraction factor, and not keeping your eyes and mind on driving. |

Tennessee has had hands free calling for a while, and banned texting starting today. I don't use my phone unless I'm parked! I will answer it and tell whoever is calling that I'm on the road, and conclude the call quickly. I do not text. I don't know how, and my phone doesn't either!
