I've been seeing one for most of my life. Not the same one, but continue to go when my back is out of whack. He certainly helped me when they thought my lung was collapsed ---- it was my back out of alignment!

It all depends on what the problem is with your back. Sometimes it takes several visits, other times it just takes one.

If you feel uncomfortable with the recommendation by all means get a second opinion, or even a third.

Good luck.

I've had to go in 2x a day before when I fell and hurt my back. BUT my chiro only charges you once that day. I went back in 2 more days that week too and then 1x a week. A friend went for her hand several times a week...what's the problem you get that usually requires surgery? Anyway she ended up with surgery a few years later after she moved.

I think you need to check out a different chiropractor. When I am in pain with the back and neck; I got to mine once or twice for the week. Then he says to call when needed.

MY back is out right now my chiro said it may take three adjustments he may be right usually he fixes me pretty quick! He has a traction machine that is wonderful!! He also sends me to a specialist is he can't fix the problem.

I would wholeheartedly disagree with that statement.

When I was a kid, I took a few tumbles and since nothing was bleeding or broken, the incidents were simply ignored. Fast forward about 20 years and I got to the point where I literally couldn't walk. There were days that I crawled on all fours and lived on the hide-a-bed.

A friend talked me into crawling to a chiropractor and he started me on a regiment that started 3x a week and slowly whittled down the visits. It took a while but eventually I was among the two-legged creatures again.

We moved and I changed Chiropractors. Now I go when I get a hitch in my getup for maintenance.

I also disagree. Some people go for years with problems, before they even try a chiropractor. There are many different problems and severities of problems. No one knows, sight unseen, how many treatments it can take to start seeing improvement.

But it never hurts to get a second opinion.

Thats what he had me doing for my back but after a few weeks I couldn't see any difference so I quit. My x-rays showed a bulging disc, a deteriorated disc and spinal bone spurs....so now I just live with it. :|

My DH and I both went to a chiro and they had the same thing you go 3x a week for a month or 2 you do adjustments and traction, then it went to 2x a week for a while and then would eventually be once every so often. well unfortuneately money issues came in because I was unemployed but I do have to say that it was working!! They said that you go often in the beginning to get your spine where it should be then you just go to maintain. we went for 3 months and we both felt great! once we stopped about a month later both of us were sore all over again. I so wish I could afford to go back. My DH has gone a few times for an adjustment but more often would be better. I would give it a try and if you feel it isn't helping let them know, just make sure you are not stuck in any kind of contract. hope this helps

When my SIL was in Chiro college at Palmer in Davenport Ia he took courses and has continued education so he can determine if a patient has a condition that needs to be seen by a medical doctor and he refers people all the time when needed.

Most reputable chiropractors will refer when needed.
