About 20 yrs ago my DH built me a small green house, 10 X 15 I use it to start seeds and store yard furnature in the winter. it has windows that open on the north and south ends when its hot I open them the breese blows from the south during the summer. if it gets too hot during growing season I will also turn on an old box fan to keep the air moving. During the summer you will only find empty pots, extra potting soil, stored in metal garbage can with lid, and maybe some mircle grow in it. All my tools are made of metal don't use plastic of any kind in there. It will deterate to quickly between heat and cold, plastic just doesn't last. My roof is not glass but a form of recicled plastic used for sky lights in barns

Yes I do and it is not usable when it gets hot. I just use it early spring for starting plants I do have a ventilation fan that is really a must. I also have two windows that I can open for ventilation. I would imagine if you have it insulated you could use a air conditioner to cool it down.

I have a fiberglass greenhouse 10' x 12', it has 4 roof vent windows. My DH put some cylinders on 2 of them that open and close according to heat conditions. I store plants in the winter in there and start seeds in the spring. With the high temps we have in Mississippi in the summer- growing anything in there then is out of the question. This is the 3rd year we have had the greenhouse and I just love having it. The first year I stored plants - several people asked me to store plants for them in the winter which I really didn't mind until I was the only one around at watering time. Contrary to what some people believe-plants DO need water in the winter!! Now I only store my plants- sounds selfish, right? All that time I spent wintering everybody elses plants could have been spent quilting!!

I had 2 at one time. I had fans, and windows, but it was still too hot. The thing that really got the temps down was the misting system. The plants loved it too. It would be easy for a small greenhouse like yours, mine was 12' x24', and my big one was 24' x 48'. I used the misting system in the big one, it was like a rainforest. I loved going in and messing with my plants, a little tropical paradise in my own back yard.
Just noticed you are in Enid. I am in Bixby. Can I come play in your greenhouse? I really miss mine. I have all sorts of tropical plants that I have gathered from lots of different places. They are living (I hope) under a tree at my Mom's house right now. Not sure what I am going to do when it starts getting cold. |

not personally, but a dear friend shares hers with me. our weather in Washington is way off the charts in being the opposite of yours. smile. I really would take the gas cans out of there.
