I find it amazing how many people do not turn on their lights when visibility is low. Not only when it is raining hard or in fog, but as it turns from daylight to dusk then darkness. The thing is, if their lights are not on, then their dash is not lit up either. That means they can't even see how fast they are going. You would think these people would realize it doesn't cost them a dime to turn on their lights. While the car is running it is not using up battery power. Makes it dangerous for all the rest of us.

I've set the controls for my lights to be on when the engine is on; they go off automatically when I stop the car. (The last time I had the car serviced they turned the lights off, and it took me a bit to remember how to turn them on!)

Same here. No turning lights on or off for me unless I need the brights.

I checked and my tail lights come on along with the headlights when the car is started.

It is a state law in SC. I always use my lights in rain or fog, no matter how light or heavy. It is also a state law to wear your seatbelt. What really amazes me is that you see people getting stopped and ticketed for no seatbelt but I never see anyone getting stopped or ticketed for no lights. Guess officers do not like to get wet unless they absolutely have to.

I always drive with my lights on, no matter what the weather may be...anything that makes me more visible to other drivers is a good thing : )

It's the law in CT, AZ and CA, the only states where I've had driver's licenses. I agree with you that it's dangerous to be on a major highway in heavy rain where drivers don't turn on their lights. You were smart to get off the highway!

It's the law in PA but many people to not turn their headlights on - guess they are too busy texting !! :(

I drive with my lights on...rain or shine. I want to be seen and I want to see YOU too!
