My husband is such a help around the house !!!!!!!!! My computer and quilting is upstairs. Here's how it goes.
Keith: I'm going to do the laundry. I have some jeans that need to be washed. Me: I'll be done in a little bit and I will do it. Keith: No problem, I said I would do it. What soap do you use? Me: Keith, just leave it and I will do it. Keith: No, I'm going to do it. Just tell me what soap to use. Me: It's in the blue jug. Keith: How much should I use? Me: Fill the cap up to the first mark. Keith: What setting on the washer should I use? Me: Rolling my eyes and going downstairs to show him the setting. I hope he doesn't decide to do anything else  He does know how to fix soups and stews, all by himself. |
NO it would be a wierd life if I had a husband!!!!! No way. I would love it if I had a wife who would do all of that with me though.

That's funny! I can relate. Mine can be helpful if he wants to. The problem is getting him to want to.

Mine helps out some, but usually not until he knows Im not a happy camper, which annoys me to no end. He is retired... I am not - Ugh! |
My husband cooks, cleans, mows, cleans the car, loves to go food shopping, snowblower, trash, dump, cleans toilets, laundry. Pretty much everything...I do ask him not to put stuff in the dryer or fold clothes and he does not like to sweep...but he vacuums...I have no complaints except when he cleans my sewing room...looks great but I can't find a thing, and he does tend to buy the same foods...unless I give him a list and a recipe.

We got married in 1967. We lived in a fourth floor walk up apartment and we had to go to a laundromat to do our laundry. He learned how to do wash back then. When we got our own home and our own washer-dryer, he did his wash and I did mine and the household wash like towels and linens.
Now he is semi-retired and I have my longarming business. He does all the wash, the outside chores like snow removal and lawn mowing, and all the grocery shopping. I take care of upkeep of the inside of the home. We share cooking. This works well for us. We both have some energy and some time left over for each other every day. |

I don't mind cooking...my parents get upset that he cooks. They do not understand that he enjoys cooking and the food shopping. I do the baking but he does not like sweets/cookies so i do not do much of it. I also clean...and always do the dishes and put them away.

i'm confused.
you feel inconvenienced because your husband wants to contribute to the housework? he wants to do a chore but apparently isn't sure how to do it correctly? where's the problem? sounds more like an opportunity to me. if you show him - without foolishly making him feel like a useless idiot - he'll be able and willing to do that chore more often. |
My DH will do anything and everything. Like Carol wrote, from cleaning the car up to dusting to cleaning the toilets (yech) he does it all. DH is an operating engineer, works almost all year, he has been off since the first week of Nov., just got a call back last week.
