I've never heard of raw garlic lowering blood pressure, but I do have a friend who gives her dogs each a piece of raw garlic every other day. She claims it keeps them from having fleas.

MY DGF ate raw garlic once then we went to a bridal shower. She let me know what she'd done and asked me to let her know if her breath got stinky so she could pop in a mint. Well, I told her a few times and she'd pop in the mint...as the day wore on it got warm and the last time I told her to take a mint she already had one in her mouth! We then realized it was no longer just her breath but her body too...it was sooo funny. We were sitting on a couch and someone would come over and sit by her and within a few minutes they'd move...she finally had to confess to the room full of women what she'd done. We all just rolled with laughter! Thanks for the memory!

It is used in dog food to keep bugs from bitting them

I also have heard that raw garlic is good for you. And you can chop it up into pill-sized pieces and swallow them with a chaser.

I tried it last year, but I asked DH to let me know if I was starting to ... smell like the garlic. Two days after I started my raw-garlic program he gave me the bad news.

On the up side, I think I read somewhere that if you smell of garlic it will keep the biting insects away.

Trouble is, it might keep people away, too! :?
