I've heard a lot of old sayings, but I never heard this one. My grandson would love it. :mrgreen:

I heard my Grandpa say one time "He's lower that a snake's belly in a wheel rut"!

The saying - you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear means that you can't start with something poorly suited or inferior and expect to make it into something wonderful anyway. If you want a silk purse, you need to start with silk. (At least that's how I interpret the old saying)

This isn't an old saying but it's pretty true... Happy wife, Happy life. At least, I like it.

My grandmother & her father--my great grandfather, had a saying for almost everything. They also only planted certain things on certain days or moon cycles.

One of my dad's was "Colder than a witch's tit in January"

we lived in Minnesota at the time.
