I get mine from the Dollar store. I'm sure you can freeze them. Our one pharmacy also carried them in the bagged candy area

Peel and core the apples, put them into the syrup to cook, turn them over about 1/2 way through. Taste good and very pretty. Now what's your recipe for the popcorn?

We used them to make applesauce. I would love to see the popcorn recipe as well. Love my popcorn

I have a recipe for popcorn balls made with marsh mellows (not as hard to eat as caramel kind). The red hot go into the melted marsh mellow and make it a pretty pink but they do not melt so you still get the cinnamon pops of taste. Usually make them at Christmas time and for Valentines day.

I have no trouble finding them at my local grocery store. I make spiced pears. Drain liquid from canned pear halves into saucepan, add red hots, (to taste) simmer til red hots melt. Put pear halves into glass bowl, pour liquid with melted red hots over them, stir gently and cover. Place in refrigerator overnight, the pears absorb the spice and color. Drain and serve the pink spicy pears with ham, turkey, whatever.

I just found them this week at the bulk food store. I stocked up on them at Valentines Day from the $store but they only carry them at that time of year and I had to go to the bulk food store for something else and found them. Happy me!!

Kris P (board member) told me about this recipe last year & it's really good. You dissolve the red hots in the butter, sugar & corn syrup...add the baking soda & the pour over the popcorn. It's really good. I'll keep checking some local stores & drug stores. Thanks everyone!

I use them to decorate Christmas cookies.....the roll out sugar cookies type. And I find them in the grocery store next to the colored sprinkle sugar in the decorating cake supplies area.

They do lose their "zip". I recently made spiced apples and they were very sweet with a little, but not zippy, cinnamon taste. I than saw that the box I had was way past the expiration date listed.
Maybe freezing them would hold that cinnamon zip longer?

The popcorn sounds delicious. I will have to make some. I love cinnamon. I was going to make caramel popcorn.

I have a hot cider recipe that calls for them too; I seem to remember the last time I looked for them it was difficult to find them. I think they'd changed the name from red hots - to something else and they came in a box not in the bags. But seemed to be the same product. Hope you find some.
