There are happy cries, too. Usually caused by what my Grandson writes in cards to me even though he's 18 and lives next door!

Tears sometimes come when someone has been kind to me, too.

Stories about pets and animals that have sad endings tend to activate my tears, too.

Guess I have hyperactive lacrimal glands.

I think that crying is a healthy sign. Emotions that are/have been repressed are not a healthy sign of emotional intelligence. I often feel sad about various things; sometimes when people cry over something that I don't find emotional, I think I must be very odd/strange or cold.
Music can often move me, and I will often cry listening to a beautiful piece of music, whether of modern or a classical style. Similarly, I find some books very emotional, and clearly remember sobbing my heart out when reading 'The Bridges of Madison County', but not on watching the film however! There have been other books that have had a similar effect, poetry too of course.
When my mother died in 1999, it was several weeks before I cried, I had to stop the car on the journey back from work and cry, and I would feel better afterwards.
I feel that the crying of grief is very different to the emotional connection with the written word, or with music, that results in tears.

I cry and sometimes it helps. If I am mad and start crying then all who know me know they need to leave me alone.

I use to cry very easy, not much any more. I can feel sad about a lot of things just not moved to tears.

Crying never made me feel better. It clogged my sinuses up and made my eyes swell and red.

I am close to waterworks if it is a humorous situation, and I laugh until I cry happy tears, and then Barb 2018 being abused and her posting this morning, finds me sitting here shedding a few for her, watching anything on TV, at the theatre, even the news of someone passing, or some disaster like a hurricane, tornado and folks losing everything. If I am with someone and they begin tearing up I usually join them.

My mother always told my siblings, leave her alone, she has a soft heart - which didn't help. A few years ago, a large group of campers held a surprise birthday party for me at the campground, and along came the waterworks and one of our good male friends, hollered at me "STOP" and that actually helped - I did stop! I think about that now when I lose it. It can be embarassing - I think I need to see a hypnotherapist, has anyone done this and did it help?

I look like crap for awhile after and put on my sunglasses or if I'm home, hide in my safe place, my sanctuary my quilting/sewing room. I try to stay away from all negativity and do not watch a lot of TV or the news, just listening
works.

On the other hand I am very happy - friends call me a class clown, or I should have been a comedian - I get this a lot. I tend to collect a lot of friends, they say because I make them laugh a lot - telling me how much they like me and want to spend time with my spouse and I. I get more than my share of Hugs, at the quilt shops, on the streets and in shops from my ex-students. I love Ellen DeGeneres's moto - Be Kind to Each other!

My emotions have always come out through my eyes. I know I feel better when I release them.

I used to cry very easily and sometimes over silly stuff (watching “House Hunters” ehen the couple hears “you got the house!”). Over the years, I have dried up more. I was surprised tgat I barely shed a tear at my daughter’s wedding, but I ugly cried when we found out we are going to be grandparents!

I hadn’t cried for several months about losing my mom, but this morning the tears flowed like the rain.

I have never gotten any relief or anything good after crying for any reason. Sadness, happiness ,book etc. I usually feel worse. When I went through a divorce in 1976 and then when my brother died in 2002 I cried an enormous amount over long periods of time and always felt worse but just couldn’t help it. I do love to laugh.

Me, too. My friend used to say "I don't cry about things. I can't breathe and it makes my face red and ugly"
