So sad

Very sad, beautful old bridge, I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, we do not have covered bridges here, just a question, why cover them? To keep snow off? I'm sure there was a good reason that I just don't know. Anyone know why?

Good question! They were covered to help preserve and protect the actual bridge structure.

How sad. We have many in Ohio and they are beautiful. Let's be hopeful..perhaps it will get rebuilt!

I saw that on the TV last night.....I just gasped when I saw it! So sad; those bridges are just beautiful.

I just heard on our news that they will be rebuilding the bridge that was destroyed as it was insured for $1,000,000

I love the old covered bridges and this was just on our news on tv. So I had to surf online to read all about it and watch the video.

We never had covered bridges around here but I always thought they looked special and romantic...so sad it's gone...but glad they will rebuild!
