And there's nothing wrong with that either!

I am a fabric snob too...life is too short to sew with substandard fabric.

I prefer to think of myself as a Fabric Snoot.

[backstory to explain: my mom used to buy unsliced rye bread from the local bakery. for some reason, we always referred to the ends as "snoots". the parts you have to cut off before you get to sandwich size slice-ability. we considered ourselves lucky if we got a snoot. i don't know why. we just did. ]

anyhoo, i define a "Fabric Snob" as somebody who looks down their nose in contempt of any but the most expensive fabrics and/or those who buy anything other than the most expensive. a "snob" is not a nice person.

A "Fabric :"Snoot", on the other hand, is somebody who realizes how fortunate she is when she is able to possess the pricey stuff. However, she recognizes the relative value of other types of fabric. Most important: she does not sneer at the less expensive fabs or the people who buy/use them.

i firmly believe that 99% of the quilters who accuse themselves of being "snobs" are actually "snoots". :-)

Nicely put, Patrice!

I would love to be a fabric snob but my brain says if you want to quilt you must stay within your budget! I doubt that I will ever enter a quilt show or make something that lasts 100 yrs but if it keeps someone warm now and they love it I don't care. Have to do what works.
