If you don't mind, I'll copy yours for my screen saver. I grew up in northen Indiana and definitely miss the fall ... and the colors like the VT pic. Enjoyed everybody's pics as I now live in the high desert of AZ. Not too many hardwoods around here.

So that's what they look like - we've been out west 3 times and have never managed to see the Tetons in the daytime. Beautiful picture!

I took this several weeks ago on our vacation to North Carolina - Fall was just beginning to peep out. It was wonderful to walk the mountain paths when it was still very hot in Florida!

Beautiful picture. Unfortunately it's rained here all day!

Quote: Puffballs are ideal for beginning mushroomers because there are no poisonous species, and they're easy to tell apart from other groups if you pay attention. If a puffball has no stalk or "legs," and is pure white, soft, and undifferentiated (no separate parts) inside, then it's in an immature state, and it's a choice edible mushroom.
Puffballs beginning to turn yellow inside or are already forming powdery spores are too late to eat. But you may find them again in the same place the following year, when you can collect them when they're younger. (end quote) from the source: http://www.wildmanstevebrill.com/Mus...0Overview.html |
