pinsninks 05-31-2011 01:32 PM

I put a long msg on the end of May's thread so you can check that out if you want.Count me in for June. Thank you MJ and you all for making this such a wonderful thread-full of encouragement and support. If Nancia has a big enough suitcase, I maybe could squeeze into it. (The scenery, however, while traveling will be highly compromized). Best wishes everyone!

quilthappygail 05-31-2011 02:27 PM

I'm in for June, only lost 3 # in May so many more to go. Thanks to you all for the motivation to keep trying each day.
Welcome to all the new members of our thread.
Hugs to all
Gail

nancia 05-31-2011 02:43 PM

ok, pins, we'll go by boat! it'll take a little longer, but i'll let you out once a day to walk the deck. you need that excercize, remember?? i'll be right beside you all the way!

HEY! wait a minute-- are we gonna let thusnelda and little roO win just like that? heck, NO! let's give' em a challenge!
how about pins and i will combine our lost weight against liitle roO and thusnelda's lost weight. is that allowed? no prize except bragging rights for one month. i always do better when there's a little competition. do you want to play? :D
oh, by the way, welcome ladies! glad we're all in this together! group hug!!!

bprayeredup 05-31-2011 03:42 PM

thomp116 05-31-2011 03:51 PM

OK, I'm taking a deep breath and signing on. It's that whole first step thing that is making me nervous.

lawsonmugs 05-31-2011 03:52 PM

Thanks ladies for a month of friendly encouragement.I have lost 4 lbs an I am thrilled about it. I would like to sign up again this month. If I lose another 4 lbs that will be 8 and that is alot. long ways from what I need to lose, but a start. Now how do we send the FQ to the winner? mary

irishrose 05-31-2011 04:57 PM

Mary, MJ will annouce the winner, then we will each PM her for her address.

5 pounds, Xylie? Yikes, but I'll try.

linz83 05-31-2011 06:29 PM

Although I didn't participate in May I did achieve my personal goal of 10lbs loss! yea me :D

thanks for hosting this challenge!
it has helped alot and been super motivating

has there been a winner announced for may? or are we still waiting to tally?
I'd like to send a FQ to the winner even tho I wasn't a contestant b/c this is a really fun and motivating way to help eachother.

Irish you are right, she would love to go. When I got her that was my plan. But like alot of things, I didn't follow through with my plan. Walking would be the best choice for me because I don't have a gym near me and would not feel comfortable going yet. I will try changing the intensity like you said and see how that goes. We live in the country and I know it sounds dumb but I feel more comfortable walking in town than out here. But I am just going to do it till I get over it! lol
Thanks for the info. :)

You mean two US contestants vs. two Europeans? - LOL!

I'm not so sure about bragging rights, though. Bragging makes one complacent which might mean that one loses track of one's goal. :)

Pam H 05-31-2011 08:57 PM

I'm so glad I saw this. I really needed something to get me going. I am in a play the 3rd weekend in July and I need to lose as much weight as possible in the next 7 weeks. Woo hoo!!

nancia 05-31-2011 09:41 PM

thusnelda-- you and little roO will have to get and keep each other motivated, and pinsnink and i will be doing the same. of course, if you want to be complacent we don't mind winning... i see a beautiful piece of swiss cotton in my future and perhaps a lovely liberty print from england.. haven't heard you three say you want to do it, tho. ;)

irishrose 05-31-2011 09:48 PM

Rita's mom, I understand about walking in town feeling safer, but remember blue dog's breed. Our herders were born to protect and yours has the strength to back it up if she's anything like my Texas Heeler (Heeler/Aussie) was. I was always glad Sasha liked me! I wouldn't have wanted to be her enemy. I tried the intense walking for 60 second intervals tonight. It's not hard because it's so temporary. Because it was dark out, I also did some marching. I don't want my neighbors to think I've lost it totally. Funny thing, I left tired from planting flowers and mowing all day and came back more invigorated. I did get a rest period. My teen age friend had another ball game tonight. It was rained out, but they got in enough innings for another win.

I'm really happy I saw this, too. I think it found it's way by accident into the main forum, that's why I saw it. It seems that it usually is in the chit-chat forum where I rarely venture for lack of time.

No way! All these beauties will find their way to Europe. We will fight for them, won't we Little RoO?

Well,for the month.If we all could just do 5 pounds,or what ever our best is.Even 3 pounds.I think we could do 5 pounds tho.That's 1.25 pounds a week.{And keep it off,most important}.And 30 pounds in 6 months.Then we make head way.Then next month,we do it again.And I know we can do it together.Just 5 pounds.

nancia 06-01-2011 12:16 AM

i'm willing to give it a shot, xylie!

cheri62 06-01-2011 12:22 AM

I want to join, I was just told by my Dr. I have to lose some weight even if its just a little it is better than gaining more. I am hoping I can lose at least 5 pounds.

Great,we need to get motivated.5 pounds is a lot for anybody, and for others will be hard, but I know we can do it.Some will do more of course, but for those who are struggling, esp.starting out,it will give a goal weight to meet,or strive for.

Xylie55 06-01-2011 01:42 AM

I want to say hi to all who signed up and to those who will be following this month.I'm glad to be here again this month. My 1st month was last month myself.I had up and down times, like every body else, but stayed the course pretty much.Lost 7 pounds overall. So,not too bad,and twice as much as I generally do.I weighed 250 pounds 3 1/2 yrs ago. 18 more pounds,I'll be at 100 pound mark.I find I do better with a number goal in mind.I gained 15 pounds 3 months ago,was at 160,then 175..So,that's why I'm here.I lost the 15 pounds last month, but put on 8 pounds when my dr. changed one of my meds. But got 7 pounds back off. So,hope to do better this month.I don't need to lose fast, cause I do want to keep off what I do lose.As long as we go down the scales, keep it off,and be on a life style change,it will be more permanent and lasting. After 90 pounds, that is one thing I've learned.I'm tired of being fat,and am doing something about it.Just 5 pounds a month,3 pounds a month, pick a number, and stick with it,no matter what, meet it.And keep it going.Good luck to all.

Good morning, All!

I am giving everyone until midnight tonight to pm me their weight loss total for May. We have three people so far with over a 10 lb. loss! Amazing!

I will announce the winner tomorrow morning!

I have another challenge for you, one that I will do also. This will take a lot of perseverance for me. I want you to write something in a journal every day...I know (groan) journal's are tough and they get dull.

So, I will give you a journal question everyday in addition to (hopefully) motivating posts. There has been a proven link between physically writing thoughts and changed behavior. So I want to try for this month. Anybody with me???

Today's thought for the journal...
Depression is anger turned inward. What are you really angry about? I challenge you to write it down. Really explore the topic. Are you punishing yourself because you are angry with someone else? Maybe God? Maybe self?

Motivation: (I hope)
Today is the beginning of June, I know, not the first, but pretty close. What will you do today to establish or continue your goals for June? Have you set a specific goal? If not, I encourage you to do so. Write it on your bathroom mirror in dry erase marker...Want to lose 5 lbs? Write your beginning weight, subtract your target weight, and circle the end result. Look at it everyday so it will be your focus.

thomp116 06-01-2011 03:06 AM

"Write your beginning weight, subtract your target weight, and circle the end result. Look at it everyday so it will be your focus."

LOL! No way! People use my bathroom!!!!!

i'm in. I need some incentive to get going again. I am down 25 pounds and have been stuck there for over a month. How do I send you my weight loss? I fed my cookies to the neighbor kids last night so I would quit eating them.

gotchacovered 06-01-2011 03:53 AM

Got on the scale this morning! "OUCH" To much late night eating. After dinner/bedtime is the worst for me.I do good and stay on program until then. Crave carbs so much. But it's another day; week; month and this forum is awesome. There is so much love, support, and words of wisdom for each other.Good luck everyone.

Please do count me in!

Motivation:

My goal for this month is to lose 5 pounds, exercise more, and do a journal for weight loss. get more active, not just sit ( like crocheting, watching tv, doing the computer, and even quilting)

I'll not give up on any of these things, but just do more. I understand when we watch tv we can do some exercises in the chair while we watch the bloob tube so thats what I am going to start, maybe some dumbbells or that elastic band thing, even sitting on that big ball.....

to walk 3 miles , work up to it this month, and not let the heat be an excuse! or no gas money to go there to walk!

JHolm 06-01-2011 04:38 AM

MJ the journal is really going to be a major challenge for me but I will try to journal dailey.

My goals for June are:
Stop the snacking at church on Sunday morning
Exercise a minimum of 5 days a week
Post on this thread dailey
Loose 4.5 lbs.
Journal dailey

Hope I can do all of this. It kind of looks overwhelming.

I am joning. I am trying to loss but it has been a slow go. I am no longer under 40 and it shows in losing pounds. I need all the support I can get. Beth in Co

WMUTeach 06-01-2011 05:35 AM

Count me in. I weighed this morning and have a goal. FQ's to get or send are less important than the encouragement from others on the same journey.

trkrsyf 06-01-2011 05:35 AM

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone on this group. I have been "lurking" around reading messages and find it so encouraging that their is a group of people out there who care enough to share each others ups and downs, highs and lows, and have probably never met each other. Just wanted you to know that I think you are a special group. I will try to journal and also to comment each day.

LindaG 06-01-2011 05:38 AM

Count me in!

createfourpaws 06-01-2011 06:43 AM

Thank you MJ for the challenge and motivational thoughts and questions. I am going to do my best to write daily, I have been battling some major depression the past few days. Not wanting to do anything. I need to get my butt out of my chair and get moving no matter how i move just get moving.

I will be writing my weight and goal on my bathroom mirror. It will be a good reminder each day. I will weigh in in the morning as I have already ate and drank this morning. I will put my weight up from the 30th.

I am praying that I can lost 2 lbs each week would love to lose 20 lbs before beach vacation in the middle of July, but need to be realistic about that one.

Good luck each and every one of us. May you reach your goals.

Have a blessed day.

Cindy

I'm actually not that fond of chocolate - so this temptation is luckily not that dangerous. But I'm generally very fond of eating, I quite like cooking and have a boyfriend who is a divine cook, so I don't need single temptations to get me into trouble. :)

But I did it once, so I will do it again and this is the right time. I lost 44 pounds (hope I did the conversion correctly) a couple of years ago without going on a diet, simply by eating healthy and doing loads of sports. Unfortunately, I had some health problems which prevented me from continuing with my sports program and now the pounds have "mysteriously" reappeared. But I'm back on track now.

Well,I like how you said "mysteriously" the pounds appeared.I gained 15 pounds 3 mo. ago,but not mysteriously,I endulged in cake, after cake, after cake, till I got on the scales and seen 15 pounds UP!.Ahh,that was my last cake. Now shooting for 150. {18 pounds}.Then I can have a steak dinner. Then go for the next 5 to 20 pounds.I'll be happy to lose 5 to 7 pounds this month,or any,as long as it's going down the scales! 160 would be great, even, where I was before the 15 pound gain.Good luck and welcome.
