I was told they were going to 'redo' the sewing area. Well...they did. Put in pre cuts (very small section), not bad, but did away with the batting! I have been getting more batting than I will ever buy of fabric there. Boy are they losing sales!! So disappointed!

I was told by manager of material department here that all would be material back as there was a class action law suit that if men could have hunting and fishing, women should have material and crafts and so they would be bringing it back. but by all means, contact corporate and store manager and complain about lack of, squeeky wheel gets the goods (greese). If enough pople bitch they will listen. Also district if you can find out how. And have all you friends do the same, even if they don't sew.

Wall-Mart has some good fabrics and some are not so good...It is good to have it back.....I missed it....

Our local Wallyworld has always had a sewing dept. since I've been here. I get a lot of remnants from them. Picked up fabric yesterday and there was like 5/8 yard left. I went ahead and took it also. It was pink and I have 4 GDs. Works for me. Ours carries the fatquarters and layer cakes, skinny stax. Irritates me though, people go in and just to make sure they really are the size they say they are on the manufacturers package, they still have to open. Spoke with the clerk and she called security because one person opened 4 packages to get the colors she wanted. Then threw the rest back. They told her to leave. I asked if they got her for shoplifting and they didn't know what to charge her with.(?). It's called shoplifting. manager should have been fired. he certainly didn't have his head in the right place.

It's great to have fabric back in many more Walmart stores. However it would help if they also had someone there to cut it without waiting forever for someone to come from another department.

I was walking through the brand-new Walmart near us yesterday, and noted they had a fabric department.

There were signs there that marked the bolts on one rack "premium quilting fabric." I looked at the quality of the fabric and one thought immediately came to mind. That was. "In what alternate universe could one actually consider this junk "premium quilting fabric?"" ;)

In our small town near a large city, Wmart has not had any fabric in their store here but I see where they have started offering sewing machines, notions, etc. Bought some bobbins which is one of the best ways to ensure they will keep sewing notions in the store. Demand is the real reason to continue the service. The larger Wmart in the city has a limited quantity of high quality fabric for quilting @ $12.98 a yd plus lesser quality and pricing. I still prefer Hancock's or quilt shops when conveniently located. Love when Walmart marks down good fabric.

The Bonney Lake, WA store has fabric - it's a great place to get $1 and $2 sale fabric for my 9-year-old daughter (she loves to practice, practice, practice!). And I found some really nice flannel and made a couple of baby quilts. Walmart online carries quite a few nice brand quilting notions and books not found in their store at great prices - I've ordered numerous times and had it shipped to the store for free. Overall am very pleased with Walmart!
