Hmmm. the great American novel. That would have to be To Kill a Mockingbird (my op only of course!)

And SusieQOH, it is another superb movie adaptation!
There was a fun countdown last summer on PBS of the Great American Read and it was chosen as number 1 as well. For those of us that love books, that was a fun countdown and looks into what else might we be reading... Although you always lose a lot of the little stuff, I found I was quite happy with waiting for the movies of the John Gresham novels. They were never quite as satisfying if I had read the book first, but were just fine as a movie and then more in the books. edit: Some people don't realize that Jurassic Park was a novel first. I was really enjoying the movie but I had drunk too much soda and was just dying waiting for a pivotal scene. Well, turned out it was a pivotal scene in the book but not the movie and never happened but I lasted out the entire show. |
Thanks to whoever suggested The Horse Whisperer. It was so good! But I'm peeved at having to rent it when I already have Amazon Prime. Geezzzzzz.....
I love movies that have horses in them. |
So many good movies listed here! I recently re-watched Hidden Figures … amazing movie. The Upside is another one that wasn't at all what I expected but enjoyed it. I love movies about human kindness. Churchill, Return to Pooh's corner was good too. A beautiful day in the neighborhood was amazing.

A Beautiful day in the neighborhood stars Tom Hanks.

Especially like period pieces and movies filmed in places we've visited like Venice (Dangerous Beauty about a courtesan) and Don't Look Now (suspenseful).

My wife and I have been binge watching “Designated Survivor” for the last three days on Netflix. Stars a Kiefer Sutherland as a cabinet member who does not attend the State of the Union address in case of disaster. After a terrorist attack which wipes out most of the government, he becomes POTUS. It has been surprisingly good.

We watched The Ten Commandments last night. My husband shared that he remembered driving with his family from San Diego to Los Angeles to see this in the theater, we are both in our 60's so years that was a while ago lol
