I've never heard of fried cabbage... strangely since I enjoy cabbage (my husband can't stand it unless it's coleslaw) your idea fully intrigues me now....

As for my family we really don't have any superstitions rather than traditions, and that means never going a year without watching the ball drop. Although now it makes me very sad (I cried last year when I saw him), because I feel so worried for Dick Clark and his unfortunate medical condition. I grew up watching him...

Well, I'm a Southerner... don't tell anyone, but I don't like blackeyed peas - haven't eaten any for years, maybe decades. Now if we were talking chocolate..... <G>

I saw the new years in at the Sydney Australia bridge one year -- that's the first one that is televised. There were 4 celebrations with fireworks at each of the 4 harbours -- starting at 8PM -- so all ages could celebrate. Sitting in the warm evening watching fireworks was an experience I will never forget

Here it is 10:12 AM New Years Day and I have walked the dog in knee high drifts, washed 2 loads of laundry, vacumned floors on all 4 levels of my split level home, put a vegetable ground beef casserole in the crock pot and about ready for a nap. Good way to start out the New Year.

I hope you didn't miss a day; because if you did I did too.

My husband's family does pork and sauerkraut too, here in PA. I always make sure the house is clean and clean sheets & towels are out too. I've cleaned drawers and shelves this week too - scared lots of dust bunnies!
