I'm Granny Maggie to my husband's little GDs, Maggie to the 20 year old GD, and my daughter is holding out, so who knows what her kids will call me?

sew cornie 05-12-2010 04:00 PM

My kids call my in-laws Ooma and Oompa. My mom is Ooma Diana. My dad and step-mom are Oompa Ron and Nana Mary. Love these names and I hope they don't change over the years. :D

Pam 05-12-2010 04:18 PM

WELL, I am only 24 and have been for MANY decades. I will let you know when the little ones come along. Got to get my cuties out of college first, please, please, please!!!!!

sunflower126 05-12-2010 04:19 PM

I am grandma. When my oldest gs was little he kept the two grandmothers separate by calling me "grandma in the blue house" and the other one "grandma in the wood house".

nursie76 05-12-2010 04:21 PM

I am Meme.

maryb119 05-12-2010 04:22 PM

I'm Gramma and that is fine with me. One GS calls me "the gramma who isn't old" because he has my mom (great-gramma) and his other gramma and me..............I am so glad they invented hair color!

sewgull 05-12-2010 05:08 PM

4 teenage grandkids, their friends and son-in-law call me
DUCKY.

Debbie1219 05-12-2010 06:04 PM

What fun to see all the names.
I am Grandma to one. She calls me Grammy when she's trying to butter me up. She used to describe me as the "Grandma that sews". Her other grandma was the "Grandma that buys clothes".

hazeljane 05-12-2010 06:10 PM

When my daughter was little, my dad called her "Pepperpot" and my in-laws called her "Dolly Girl" so they were Grandma and Grandpa Pepperpot and G&G Dolly Girl. Her great grandpa was Gampy, great grandma on my side was Grandmaman, and on dad's side was Mimi, and her great great grandmother was Mama Eva.

roseOfsharon 05-12-2010 06:28 PM

Honey 05-12-2010 09:19 PM

My oldest DGS started calling me Honey cause I would come home every day and say how is my honey today. It just stuck with all of them. Grandpa is grandpa, but I'm Honey. (even their friends and other cousins call me that. I love it)

SulaBug 05-12-2010 11:50 PM

Whenever I had my first grandchild I would call her my little Dolly, well she decided when she started talking that I am now Dolly. She does call the other grandma though. She will correct you if you call me grandma. She say "NO" it's "DOLLY"

ProudGranny5 05-13-2010 05:15 AM

I have a couple names but I answer to anything when it comes to my grandkids.
Maggie use to call me Mawmaw ... now it is Granny
Amanda & Abby call me Grandma
Maria & Vincent call me Nahnah
DH started calling me 'Chicky' so I think that name has stuck too.

Chrys 05-13-2010 05:22 AM

My boys call my mother in-law Oma.

Barbm 05-13-2010 05:29 AM

My son called my Grandmother (his great) grapes grandma. So to differentiate between the grandmothers, all the kids started calling her grapes grandma.

My niece called the same Grandmother- Tower grandma because she lived on the third floor of the assisted living facility.

damaquilts 05-13-2010 05:41 AM

Dama my DGD couldn't say grandma. It stuck only now she is a teenager its Gramma in public. she doesn't want to try and "explain" I would have preferred Nana but none of the grandkids called me that. And really they are the ones to decide right?

ladylinda 05-13-2010 05:54 AM

My oldest grandson called me Grandma Lady. He used to come to the bottom of the steps and yell what you doing Lady and then grandma got added. The rest and all their friends call me Nanaw rimes with dawn.

I am Meme - started out as Mimi, but Meme is easier to quilt onto the quilts I make for them!!!! The other grama is MomMom, and we both love our names.
The first grandson started calling my husband 'Poopa' but it was because he knew it was a naughty word (Poop) and my daughter put a quick stop to it!! I still love it!!

imjustme 05-13-2010 07:38 AM

I have a NaNa. We say it like nahnah. All my other grandmothers we say Grandma (insert last name). Except with my husbands family it grandma (insert first name).

quiltlin 05-13-2010 07:53 AM

Strange that this question should come up at this particular time. I have been a grandma for exactly one week so far and I'm loving it. We (my DD and I) think I will be GG (short for Grandma Green). Know that GiGi is also the French name for grandma (I think).

quiltincharlotte 05-13-2010 08:08 AM

Mine is Mom Mom. My Mom is "G G Mom"!!

AnnaK 05-13-2010 08:10 AM

Being named Anna, Granna was just natural. I love to be called that by my 2 grandsons. What a blessing. My husband has been christened Papa Dave and my mother is called Lita, short for abuelita (grandmother in Spanish).

all us grandbabies call Grams. and when grandpa was alive, he was Gramps. so simple but then no one else was called those...like cousins granparents had other nicknames or just grandma rose, or whatever the first name was.

My favorite is still Grams tho :) its special and unique to us and we all know who we are referring to if we say Grams
