Gayle I received your FQ today. I am going to have to win in December. I love that fabric. I put my PJ's on at 6:00 tonight. I have been running around like crazy for days. It also has been raining for days. It is a good night for PJ's. I am heading upstairs in a few minutes to sew. I got 3 quilts back from the longarmers last night at guild. 2 of them were at a friends who is a newbie. She is inexpensive but does need practice. They were quilts that I wasn't too concerned about the quilting. They will be used daily and flopped on the floor here at home. So they don't need to be perfect. The other quilt has a lot better quilting on it.
I was talking to a friend about my sewing machine woes and she said she had 2 she was about to put up for sale. I bought her Janome 6600P. I love it. It FMQ like a dream. I still don' know if my other machine can even be fixed. I told my DH I would go insane without a decent machine, so he said to go ahead and get it. I might finish piecing my hexagon shuffle tonight. I want to make one in another color way next. I need it for the November meeting.

I hadn't heard of the Daniel Plan before, love the name, way better than Atkins :D LOL

I have been pleasantly surprised this week. My weight loss has slowed down, but Friday night I went out with my hubby and had dessert and a couple drinks and only seemed to put on a pound. And then the other night I got my daughter ice cream and she couldn't finish it so of course I HAD to finish it for her. The next day I finally lost another pound :D

Does anyone else weigh themselves everyday or almost everyday? I know I'm only supposed to do it once a week, but I just HAVE to know if what I'm doing is working. I have a FitBit scale so usually once a week I look at the app and really compare the numbers, but I just can't stay off it.

I weigh myself almost every day. Always have. Always will. I guess it's just a habit at this point.

There is a Bible study component to it. It consists of Faith, Focus, Fitness, Friends and Food.
Tomorrow I am going to try and start the 10 day "cleanse" they suggest. Basically for 10 days cut out ALL Dairy, ALL Gluten, ALL Sugar (in any form) All Artificial Sweeteners, any kind of Stimulants and Sedatives: alcohol, caffeine, etc as well as no Processed or fast food.
After the "detox" you can add back healthy forms of dairy or gluten a little at a time. Also can add back a small amount of caffeine from coffee or tea ( I drink tea) and a small amount of Alcohol, occasionally.

I eat pretty good but eat way too much and I don't get any exercise. I really need to work on that part. There are 5 of us in this "class" though 20 other women at my church did it over the summer, we are to help keep each other accountable etc.
I ate pretty well today except the tiny bit of honey and 1/2 and 1/2 in my tea, the 4 pieces of Salami and the little bit of Yaki Soba noodles I had in my stir fry. Oh, I guess I also used a tad bit of butter and an ounce of ham in my scrambled eggs that I will have to do without for the next 10 days.
Wish me luck everyone!!!!

Good luck, Gayle! That is harsh! That is a lot to cut out all at once. Does processed food include frozen and canned food too? If so, I don't know what you could even eat because most meat you buy has been frozen.

Jim's Gem 10-16-2014 08:51 AM

No canned vegetables. But canned wild caught salmon, canned beans, tuna, etc. Frozen is fine. The foods must be in their own juice or water.
I prefer fresh veggies. I live in Southern California and we have all kinds of fresh veggies year round.
Meats are to be lean meats. Pork is not on the menu. ( I love sausage, that will be a hard one. That and ham)

The hardest thing for me would be no canned beans or tomatoes. Chili and taco soup are weekly staples at our house during the winter. I can't imagine cooking dried beans each time. Or to have to boil a chicken every time you needed chicken broth? I don't think so!

Jim's Gem 10-16-2014 11:26 AM

Canned Beans and tomatoes are fine. As long as there is no added sugar. Prepared chicken broth is fine too. But chicken or beef bullion cubes are not. Too many chemicals and MSG in them. I can use the canned broth. So you are good!!!

I'm dropping out for this month. I've been busy helping get ready for a Women's Conference at out church and eating on schedule and eating healthy hasn't been the norm. Hopefully next month I'll be back on track. I'll still check in because all of you give great ideas for healthy eating and you are an encouragement to me.

That sounds like a really clean style of eating. I like the idea and I'm jealous of my friends who can maintain such a clean diet but I've come to realize that it's not for me. At least not right now. Sometimes it's that I feel like I'm just too busy with my kids and home, sometimes it's simply that I'm a picky eater. I've found that my taste buds are continuing to change and every once in awhile I find I like something that I used to hate. Maybe one day I'll have the tastebuds for a clean diet!!

Tonight was funny because it was my daughters 8th birthday and she wanted chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. I had a rather large piece but I guess it's been so long since I've had any significant number of carbs that it gave me a sugar high. Not something I've ever experienced before, it was the weirdest sensation! We'll see what kind of havoc today wreaked on my diet. I had to keep taste testing the frosting until I got it right.
