Adorable! Wish they stayed so sweet, but those hormones kick in and with those teeth and claws they can be very dangerous.
At the end of the series, the hero releases the raccoon into the woods after it grows up, and so did the real people, big problem since they are not native to Japan and no natural predators. They are ruining 800 year old temples and other wooden structures with their nesting habits. One biologist said it was her unfortunate duty to try to kill 10,000 raccoons a month throughout the country. That's how bad it's gotten. |
I really enjoyed watching this. My late husband and I raised a raccoon from before it opened its eyes right up until it topped out at 40 pounds. It was fun and this brought back some of our fun times together. A great big thanks to you.

That was very cute.

Very cute. I had a baby racoon when I was a kid. My brothers found it hurt and brought it home, my mom doctored it and promptly made it my responsibility to care for it. He grew to be 14 pounds and never bite anyone. Love the dogs, which is rare. Never got to mom's chickens either. He was kind and loving. Finally one day a female came into the barnyard and off he went to a new life. He would occasionally come around to say hi, but not for long. Then he never came back. I missed him for a long time. Funny....I still do.

These babies are irresistible and I know some folks have great success with wildlings (DFIL had a groundhog in the house) but most of these cases are recipes for disaster and/or heartbreak.

Loved that video. Adorable animal. I wonder if he still has it and how it is now if he does?

Brings back memories of the one we raised when I was younger. Thank you for sharing.

Charming critters until they get mature and begin to defend their little corner of the world. Does any one remember the Rascal movies by Disney and the books. I still enjoy them in my memory.
