Happy to hear you are safe.
Enough storms for awhile, huh?

Rose L 04-26-2011 10:24 PM

Aww, Carrie, I feel for you, really I do. We had similar winds a couple of days ago and I lost a bunch of shingles off of my roof which is less than a year old (third time really). I could hear them slapping the side of my fifth wheel camper but there wasn't much I could do about it. I have a couple not so nice dents in the gel coat but realize it could have been sooo much worse. It makes me mad that I have to have the roof fixed AGAIN though!

Quilting Angel 04-26-2011 11:10 PM

Oh how terrible. I hope you can get your van fixed soon. So thankful you and your family are ok though

wanda lou 04-26-2011 11:18 PM

So glad you and your family are safe.
many prayers.

olebat 04-27-2011 03:41 AM

Thank goodness it's only auto damage. But the fabric? Oh no, don't sell it. Make things from it to sell, you'll get more for it. Quickly, make tote bags, key chains, some of those graduation presents which were listed here earlier this week. Call it a "storm sale". Revenue and occupational/mental therapy. Set up a booth in front of the complex, like a lemonade stand. If you sell it here, list it as storm sale items, to get our attention. All the best to you.
Carol

smagruder 04-27-2011 03:44 AM

Here in Kentucky we can't seem to see the end of serious thunderstorms and tornado warnings. I will be glad to see this part of spring Sprung!

Great idea! Sorry to hear this Carrie but glad you all are OK! Stay safe today!!!

ptquilts 04-27-2011 04:16 AM

I feel for you!! I love my van, can't get along without it. See if you have glass coverage, sometimes you do even if you don't have comprehensive.

pipp5 04-27-2011 04:33 AM

Is it insured??? If so, there is no glass deductible in KY! I was so excited to find that out when my husband broke the back window out of my truck when loading something.

emsgranny 04-27-2011 04:50 AM

Carrie - soo sorry to hear about your van - we are like you - cant afford coverage so we carry liability only on our vehicles. We have 3 old cars Newest is 94! The full coverage wouldnt have helped us too much since there isnt even a blue book value on our cars lol

Hang in there and I am so happy you are all safe!!!

My SIL lives in Maryland Heights in MO Its very close to the airport (Lambert) which was hit by tornado and shut down for awhile. I called her and was so glad that it missed her and her daughter (who lives next door!!) It hit houses 6 blockds away and they had a gas leak in their neighborhood. Her SIL came home from his nite shift to find the eighborhood closed to all traffic and the officers told him to walk home - He literally ran home to thankfully find his wife and little girl safe and sound!!!

My SIL's school was closed and the faculty got together and went to the surrounding homes to help clear debris. She said it was sooo bad. All the homes were destroyed down to the subflooring! She said it made her think about her life and thankful that it missed them. These people lost everything they owned!!! What would you do and where would you go!!!

Thoughts to ponder!!!

SuzyQ 04-27-2011 04:57 AM

Yikes ... glad you were okay

misscarol 04-27-2011 05:23 AM

I am glad you are all ok. The van can be replaced.

oma66 04-27-2011 06:03 AM

Carrie, what a terrible experience. We are all so glad that you were not in the van when this hit. My prayer is that you will be able to get it fixed quickly and inexpensively.

Nanaof4 04-27-2011 06:05 AM

So sorry to hear about your trouble. Thank God you're all safe.

Do you have comprehensive which covers glass breakage or if you hit a deer etc. You don't have to carry full coverage to have it. We don't carry full coverage either but have the comp. I'm happy you and family are ok.

Kentucky insurance seems to be different from everywhere else. I'm not the only one stuck in this situation. Many ppl in our complex lost windows in their cars. Insurance won't pay for anyone that didn't have full coverage.

klgreene 04-27-2011 07:03 AM

So sorry to see all this damage. Wind can be so distructive. But glad you guys are all ok.

Stitchit123 04-27-2011 07:13 AM

So sorry about your damage Check your yellow pages and see if you have a company called Safety Auto Glass They come to you they clean up every tiny pc of glass My brother has a van like yours and both front and back windshields and frt pass had to be replaced after a storm in Feb.total bill was $ 275 junk yard wanted 200 a pc for the w/shields and 125 for pass./window and he was real happy and he didn't have to clean out all those Diamondelles he figured the clean up was worth $275

NannySandy 04-27-2011 07:31 AM

My Dear Carrie, I am sorry for the damage your van received, but Honey, I am so thankful you and your family are safe and sound. Bless your heart. Stay safe. Love ya, Sandy

madamekelly 04-27-2011 03:08 PM

I am so sorry this happened to you, but at least you are OK.

Iamquilter 04-27-2011 04:51 PM

Glad you are all o'k. We don't like the weather we are having either, but I would rather have the snow ,rain and cold instead of the tornados and such.
