For those of you unfamiliar with Hobby Lobby:
They are based in Oklahoma City. Owned by the Green family. They are the family that bailed out Oral Roberts University, located in Tulsa, OK. They do a lot of philanthropy work. Right now, they have a display of bibles and other religious artwork that they have acquired over the past 2-3 years. Very Christian family. They are expanding their presence in the states. Just FYI. |
I love Hobby Lobby! They have a 40% off coupon every other week available on line. Starting before Christmas it is every week...they also have lots of 50% off each week. If I see something I want and don't have a coupon, I just wait a week or so and it either goes on sale or I get a coupon. You never have to pay full price! I got a cutting mat last week for $40..it is huge!..saw it at Joann's for $79.95..at Hobby Lobby for $59.95 -40%. It is just about my favorite store and I can spend a fun couple of hours there every week. Magazines and books are never on sale so if I need nothing else, I buy a book for 40% off...Just love it and am glad it is closed on Sunday..everyone needs a day off. If I lived closer I would like to work there and I am very happily retired!

40% coupons for sewing every other week.
For other thing the alternate weeks. J J |
I really like Hobby Lobby. For the most part, their fabric is a pretty good quality, although you do have to watch some. Those 40% off coupons are great. For some other craft items, they are a little more expensive. ENJOY!
One thing that DOES annoy me about HL is that they still use price tags and not scanners on their registers. This can delay the check out process as the clerk has to KNOW everything that is on sale. Yes, they do have a "cheat sheet" available. Can't believe in this day and age of technology, that they don't use what is available. |
Hi Hobby Lobby has a nice selection of fabric.. and also a good price.. They have coupons most weeks in the papers..

I've shopped at Hobby Lobby stores in Texas for many years...in several locations. They're great. They have every kind of hobby, craft, and art items you can imagine. Plus a lot of decor items for the home. Some of their fabric is very good quality. My favorite is to buy solid color Kona cotton with a 40% coupon, which is often available in the local newspaper. They consider 10 yards to be a single cut of fabric and 40% off that is a good deal. You'll enjoy shopping there.

hobby lobby sadly is NOTHING like a Michaels. It is smaller, has more Made in China stuff than a Chinese market place and less crafting stuff. I speak from experience as a Lead Sales for Michaels and being in OK where HL is based out of! Do sign up at their website to get the weekly flier emailed to you so you can have the coupon. I copy/paste it to word and print off 10 every week. Then what I don't use, I share at the store, makes for great customer sales!
|
was in Hobby Lobby yesterday for the 1st time in MONTHS and noticed that they had rearranged, enlarged and upgraded the quality of fabrics! so excited.
and sadly, our Michaels is mostly kids foamy crafts and flowers and Hobby Lobby is 3 times larger and cleaner |
Love Hobby Lobby! You can sign up at their website and get a coupon in your email for 40% off almost every week.
|
Hobby Lobby originated here in Oklahoma City. As others have written, their stores are huge with always good sales for crafts & home decor. Their calicos are always 30% off the price on the end of the bolt, and every other week there's a coupon, both in your newspaper and on line for 40% off the regular price. You can sign up on line to get their weekly specials, including the coupon, which you can print out. I do wish they had more fabric, but usually I can find something I can use at a reasonable price.
I'm glad you're getting a Hobby Lobby in your town. It is run by very ethical people, it seems. They're not all over the country yet, but are growing. |
i buy a lot of material from there , i am sure you will like the store they have almost every craft covered as far as supplies

HL is so much fun. They have everything. 8-)
|
I work for Hobby Lobby. We carry everything from fabrics to scrapbooking. HL has a huge home accents department that has many unique things for your home. The thing to remember is this...never pay full price for anything. It will be on sale at one time or another. They have 40% off coupons every other week. The closer it gets to Christmas, the coupons will be every week. Enjoy the store. I believe you will like it.
|
All of the comments are right on.I'd like to add that if you go to their website, www.hobbylobby.com and sign up they will send you coupons via e-mail and you will get them every week.
|
I would like to comment on the remark about HL not using scanners....understand this...HL is a Christian store. The owner, David Green, believes that bar codes are tied to the Mark of the Beast. He may very well be right. You have to work there to understand.
|
HL has nice fabric and more tone on tone choices than our Hancock Fabrics. I often use the 40% off coupon for batting or backing. Sign up to receive coupon and sale notifications from HL. The come to your inbox every Sunday and every other Sunday includes the 40% off coupon. The cottons and calicos are on sale 30% off all the time so $10/yd Norcott fabric is really $7/yd.

We have a Hobby Lobby opening here in Lakeland FL next month. After reading all of your posts full of glowing comments, I really can't wait for it to open!
|
Sorry if this has been mentioned and I missed it.
Hobby Lobby is CLOSED on Sundays. |
Hobby Lobby is one of my favorites. Ours has a nice big fabric section with a good selection. The 40% off coupon is good for anything in the store and often I will get books or magazines. Can print coupon off the website.
|
Go to hobbylobby.com and sign up for their emails. They are weekly and give you the coupons and ads in case you miss it....at least in Atlanta, they have an ad in the Sunday paper each week. HL is great but can be overwhelming. If you're looking for something on sale, usually Michael's, JoAnn or HL has it on sale in a given week if you try all three places. Fabric is more like JoAnn than WalMart; all sorts of price ranges all mixed in together so you have to watch carefully!

great store
|
They have a LOT more stuff than Michaels.
|
You will enjoy Hobby Lobby.
|
Hobby Lobby is one of my favorite stores.. I have three within a 30 mile radius of my house and each one sells different things so it is wonderful... They sell everything under the sun and then some... I can spend hours in the store... the only problem I have with them is they close at 8 pm every night and they are never open on sundays. I wish they stayed open till at least nine... but oh well... enjoy your new store!!
|
They have quality merchandise, though expensive. One thing to remember: If you buy something be sure your receipt is in a safe place. I've just had the following experience: Bought a decorative wall thingee but when I got it home,
Therte was no receipt. My belief is that, since it was a windy day, it blew out of the bag. No 1. Remind your cashier to give you the receipe, not put in the bag. No 2. If you do loose it, without a receipt, you get only half of the original purchase price back..We live and learn. With all their Christian music playing in the store at all times, you would think their policy would be different. I feel like I was ripped off. |
I love our new Hobby Lobby, about 1 year old actually, and buy most of my fabric there.
Be sure to sign up on line for your 40% off coupon. My new one for the week arrived today. |
you will love it, and always remember to check out the website for printable coupons.
|
You will Love this store it has soooooo much in it and alot of pretty things in there. They have a good bit of fabric and other sewing and quilting things too. Don't hold back on spending. :) :)

Crafts and home decor, mostly. Good framing area. They are Christian owned and not open on Sundays!!! Yea for them (although sometimes annoying for me.... lol)
