Deby said she got it at Joann, but I usually get it on eBay.

WOW!!! what can I say other than "THANK YOU!!!!" to Mary (Havplenty)
and a mystery RAK from Austin, TX or some place NEAR there.

Today I received a gift certificate from Mary for a restaurant not to far
from where I live (less than 2.5 miles). I am going to take my hubs with
me and enjoy a meal and than do a "no-no" and have a small dessert in
her honor for her generous kindness.

My mystery RAK is 2 awesome FQ's that I have actually been THINKING
about buying, but kept walking away from (trying to show myself that I DO
have restraint against buying fabric for myself). BUT now I have those awesome
fabrics and I didn't buy them, so I DO have restraint.

THANK YOU BOTH your kindness means so much to me and I feel blessed
to have you and everyone on the RAK list.

We are up to about 45 members (give or take 1 or 2) on the RAK list. I
never dreamed so many people wanted to do that.

Here is a picture of the two FQ's. I think I am going to make a photo copy
of my GC to put in my folder that has all the RAK items I have received, so
that I can look back and remember it.

Quilty-Louise 01-20-2012 08:59 PM

Awwwww by using my "detective" skills (hahaha) I KNOW
who my mystery RAK came from, but I will be kind and not
mention any names.

At least I THINK that is the person who sent it to me, unless
someone was traveling near that area and mailed it from there
(I have been know to do sneaky stuff like that before).

lynn_z 01-20-2012 09:42 PM

How can I get in on this? How do you get addresses of strangers to be kind to?

mmb195152 01-21-2012 09:08 AM

Lynn_z Send a pm to Quilty Louise, and let her know you want to join.

I want to say a special thank you to Havplenty for the wonderful restaurant gift certificate she sent as a RAK in my sp package I received yesterday. She was SO generous. Havplenty, I am going to send you a personal note to let you know how your RAK impacted me. It meant more than you can imagine! Thank you.

Krystyna 01-21-2012 09:38 AM

I received a little package with NO RETURN ADDRESS (!!!) that had the sweetest little FQ's.
Thank you, whoever you are.

24 RAKs are on their way to the post office right now. Who will get them? Who knows????

PM your address and I'll dig through my stash and will be happy to share.

Up North 01-21-2012 09:47 AM

I need to start doing this again, I have done it in the past sometimes if I win something on a PIF I will have it sent to someone else just because I can. I am unemployed and have run out of unemployment so mine will have to be from my stash or something I make. Thanks for bringing this back to my attention.

Krystyna 01-23-2012 01:33 PM

So are you making one for each of us? Don't answer. I know you are. I don't want to ruin the surprise!
;););)

Krystyna 01-23-2012 01:37 PM

Speaking of swell things ... Louise can we put a "likes scraps" into the matrix? I'll be glad to help.

Krystyna 01-23-2012 03:10 PM

Anyone up for a little YAK on RAK? ;)
I'll start.
I've been ploughing through my bucket of strips - which is just a teeny tiny bit of what I have. Now on day three, I am getting sick of it. It has become an endurance ordeal. I WILL finish them off. I WILL if it kills me.
Once they are done, who knows what will happen.

Soooooo, who are the RAK scrap lovers? I've got a ton of them!

And now, off to run a nice hot tub and soak for a while. My back is killing me from all the sewing. I haven't indulged in that luxury for ages and it is time! Calgon - take me away!

Here a scrap, there a scrap, everywhere a scrap......scrap.

Gigi07 01-23-2012 04:54 PM

I'm a scrapper too!! It is amazing what one can do with scraps!

brenda21 01-23-2012 05:02 PM

Thank you so much to mmb195152 for the most beautiful piece of fabric that you RAK'd me with today....it is indeed hard to find a piece that has all three colors in it (teal, brown and pink) and the pattern in th piece is awesome:thumbup:

Love the little desk guy! No, not organize. Utilize. And now give away. You'll all be on the list. Does anyone want homespun? Got some of that too. How about lace scraps? Always a ton of that. PM me your preferences as to color size and lace or no lace and if you can use something other than quilting cottons.

LOL Krystyna,

I am wayyyyyyyy ahead of you (kinda) on that, I already created
a column on the database called "send scraps" that I have been
using for myself when every I see someone mention that they like
scraps.

I will start adding that column to the RAK list. I already have 10
people "marked" as wanting scraps, and I have been "slowly" building
up some boxes with a few scraps tossed in each box.

See........
Now what is not easy to see is that there are FIVE (5) not
just the four you can see.

Yesterday (and last night until 1am) I was making more
bibs.

This is the last bib I made last night before FINALLY
calling it quits and going to bed LOL.

Cute bibs.....selling? Grandkids? Just like bibs?

Please put my name on the 'likes scraps' list if it's not there already. Bonnie Hunter is coming, Bonnie Hunter is coming...the more scraps the merrier!

Quilty-Louise 01-23-2012 07:31 PM

Yep I have you one the list already for wanting scraps.

As for the bibs I will be selling them on my artfire studio.
No I don't have any grandkids (YET), but I do hope to have
them some day.

The ONLY bibs I can not sell are the licensed designs (Disney?Pixar)
as I DO NOT want to get my fat tush drug to court over something
dumb like copy right infringement blah blah blah you know how that
goes.

ANY thing I make that has a licensed design on will have to be
"gifted" to someone :(.

My SIL works for a company in Denver who deals ONLY with
wholesale "blanks" and I had her to pick up a couple dozen
bibs for me, but I have not gotten them from her yet. The
bibs I am using are some that I had already ordered some
time ago.

So nice to be on a 'good' list for a change. Thanks!
Bought a used embroidery machine just before Christmas and I am absolutely loving it!

Uh oh. Look out! Louise and I are going to inundate you with embroidery freebie sites!

Louise, I just finished watching an episode of Hoarders. Oh my goodness, this lady had a clean house, except for the extra empty bedrooms, garage and basement. Oh, and two storage units and a 9,000 sq ft storefront! Man, she had some husband. Anyway, my point being that I *think* I have a fabric hoarding problem. And it must go go go!

wanda lou 01-23-2012 08:11 PM

I am a scrap lover.

Krystyna sorry your page is missing , I looked all over for it. Happy I found you guys.

Krystyna 01-23-2012 08:18 PM

Wanda, Patrice deleted the thread as she thought it belonged in a blog, so we must comply. At least we're here and that's a happy thing!

walk-n-roll 01-23-2012 09:04 PM

Please put me on the scrap list also. Thomp116 has me addicted too. I also am looking forward to meeting Bonnie Hunter.

sewellie 01-23-2012 09:09 PM

So how does this work? I received a RAK awhile back and it blew my socks off. I just don't know how to get started or what to do. I am really interested. Thanks

sewellie 01-23-2012 09:11 PM

Oh my, that cup from Ireland is over the top. What a lucky girl you are!!! :)

sewellie 01-23-2012 09:26 PM

I have done this in the past to someone who inspired me or sent me a pattern that I wanted. My question is, how do you get their address without asking them for it. It doesn't seem like a surprise if you ask them for their address.

sewellie 01-23-2012 09:40 PM

I'm a newby and haven't been sewing very long, so my stash is not much. however, I love scrappies, which is good 'cause that's about all I have. :) I feel blessed to have them.

I so love your avatar. I think we've talked about that before. :) Blessings.

Havplenty 01-23-2012 09:59 PM

bonnie posted on her blog the many boxes & packages of scraps she received from her fans for her 50th birthday. wow oh wow!
