IMHO, you need to know how to crochet in order to fix the doily. I think you should frame them and maybe cover the damaged part with a picture of your Grandmother. If you fix them and your sister uses them, they might be damaged further, and they are part of your family's history.

Susie - what a great idea! I have some of my grandmother's doilies that would make great gifts to my sisters. Thanks for this.
