It's called 'spoofing' and is highly annoying. I, too, have nomorobo and it's a godsend. That said, we had a call yesterday AM from - supposedly - a local company that is owned by a friend of ours. Odd that he would call the home phone vs DH's cell but I answered anyhow. Nope, some other loser from a different company. There are a few of those that get past the nomorobo but not too many. And if it's not a name I recognize it goes to the machine.

I get those too. Worse yet, the ph. # for my cell phone had been used by someone in the past who obviously used his phone for not so nice purposes. I get messages to call or text a number for things like wanting to feel like a 17 yr old man again (??? I'm female and in my early 60's)!!! and worse things I won't mention. Yikes. I don't have a clue how to stop those from showing up in message section of my phone. Any suggestions?

I totally agree. I rarely answer my house phone, especially for numbers that I don't know so they have really stopped calling as much. I still get them on my cell but since I don't answer calls that I dont recognize, they have slowed down. I figure it its important, they'll leave a message. Spam callers never leave a message and ignoring them is the only way to stop them. The do no call list never helped me at all. I think as much as we pay for our cell phones especially, we shouldn't have to deal with spam,

I get them too and from all over including locally and its always the same voice recording. Even if you press 1 to talk to them and tell them you don't own a car anymore, they don't stop. Not answering calls is the only way I've gotten them to slow down.

I live in Fl and CA, I only have a cell phone with a CA number. Often when I'm in FL my cell rings, of course it's a CA robo call. I just ignore them and block them. I'm not getting that many anymore.

Take or call the cell phone to the company that gives you service. Explain what's happening and see what they suggest. When you say message section of your phone, do you mean text messages? If so, type in STOP sometimes that works. I have resorted to using the icon that looks like a stop sign and that works better than the word STOP. Also, there is a way to block the number that was used to call you. The caller may have ten phones with different numbers, but after awhile, they seem to go away if you block them. Good luck.

Live people like doctor's offices or whoever can push the button and leave a message. Regular callers are recognized. I probably have at least 5 blocked calls per day.

I went to this sight and there was a charge of $1.99 per month. How are you getting it free?

Its fun but strange when you see your own phone number on the Caller ID, they have figured out a way to route their calls thru numbers not associated with them. I don't answer the phone if its not recognized in my caller list. Put a voice message on saying to leave a message if you want me to call you back. Got a lot of them for the 1st couple months I added a landline to the house but its tapered off now. Same for my cellphone. Only once in a great while do I get one.

Anyone who isn't on my contact list is free to leave me a voicemail :D
