LOL No, don't think they are Dole's. They were just on the side of the road. They'll be gone by next week. People just drive up, cut them down and they are off! I have a banana tree in my yard, but no bananas yet. Had one that had a pod, but a strong wind blew it over :(
I keep saying I want to kayak there. I get crazy looks. Maybe I can jetski over. I'm sure they rent them for that too! |
Just love your pictures. I sure could use some of that weather here though. It is June and feels more like April.
|
Come on over!
|
Thanks Loretta!
You know, I've been asked before if I had to do it over again, would I change anything. NOPE! I actually love my life. Sure, moving all the time and not really having a place to call mine isn't fun, but it's an experience, not for everyone, but I love it. (just not loving being on an island) |
So...are you internet house shopping yet?
|
No, I'm TRYING to plan a trip, but this family of mine is not making it easy!!!
|
Dontcha' know that you just have to dive in...plan whatever you want then let them come or not???? :(

We get sort of free tickets. Since we have done back to back "overseas" tours, we get what is called COTS Travel. It means, the Navy will pay for ALL of us to go back to Bill's Home of Record (Kansas), BUT...if we want, we can change the ticket to go where WE want to go. If there is a difference in price, we pay the difference. If the difference is less...we don't get the money. :( So, in order for us to go, HE has to go too! It's just trying to figure out HOW to get to where we want to go. Australia is a HUGE place and hubs can drive on the wrong side of the road, not a problem, but if we drove from north to south, it would take ALL of our vacation and we wouldn't be able to do/see anything. |

I'm hoping to get to the Northern part of the island maybe this weekend coming. All depends on hubbys schedule on the ship. I like him to drive so I can tell him when to stop so I can take pictures. When my sister & BIL go on vacation, Judy just says "Photo Op!!" & Walter knows to stop NOW! LOL |
I usually have to yell STOOOOP!!!!
He doesn't like to stop. For me to get the pic of the bananas, I had to walk back about a couple blocks. He wouldn't back up or turn around. He's such a dweeb at times.... |

(just not loving being on an island) I agree with you 100% - DH served in the Royal Air Force for 30 years & I have to say I loved every minute of it. I really miss the tours to different places & countries. The hardest part of all was when we finally settled in Nottingham so the boys could concentrate on their schooling & there I was after 5 years wanting (or possibly subconciously wanting to more on again LOL). Yes my life has been a real buzz of an experience. Anyhow on a slightly different tangent - Terri your island is amazing I wanna come visit (A ploy to get my quilt back HE HE)   I wouldn't want to leave it looks like paradise.   Tisha  |
Terri, what a beautiful place! The colors in the water were so pretty. I chuckled when you said you were tired of driving in circles - never thought of an island that way. LOL Are there any parrots flying around there?
I do have to say I like the four seasons, but since I have balance problems, I am afraid of winter in New England, because I usually fall on ice and snow at least once a winter - then I am afraid to go outside again. |
Tisha...no worries, I will do your center and pass it on. I cannot guarantee that Patti won't try to keep it. lol
No, Beachlady, there are no parrots here. Not alot of birds because of the snakes here. The snakes eat all the eggs. The other day I was watching a chicken (momma) with her 8 babies. Saw her again today and she only had 4. Snake usually gets the babies at night time. :( The birds I do see are brown sparrows, pigeons and egrets. That's it...oh yea, and these blackbirds that come out around this time of year and dive bomb you when you are walking. I do love the winter...don't like the slippery ice tho. Have had my fair share of spills on them...ouchy! |

Wow! You are lucky. I love your pictures.
|
Thanks for the tour...always wanted to visit! :D
|
Awe, love your photos Terri! The very last photo of the banana trees, looked absolutely like paradise! We had a heat wave last week, and it hit 110F, but we had no paradise to go with the heat, only smog, tons of smog from the heat! lol :)

Terri
Love, Love your pictures. Always do, you take great photos. Thanks for sharing. Now when people ask about my summer vacation plans, I can tell them I have already taken a tour of Guam and just don't know where I will be going next (have to wait and see where you are off to). Beverly |
LOL
Thanks.... Well, tell them you are getting ready to go to Australia. I'm in the middle of planning a trip there at the moment. That is IF I don't kill my family first! :) |
Stunning, from one coming from high mountain desert. Looks like a little piece of heaven on earth. thanks for sharing. Sounds like I need a trip myself.
|
Thanks for the pictures, Terri. I've been wondering for YEARS what your pebble looks like - my DH and FIL were both PanAm pilots and had Guam layovers OFTEN in the '60s. Neither EVER took pictures.
I understand your missing New England. I miss it too when I'm in AZ for the winter - but I don't miss slipping on the ice or shoveling snow! That's why I'm in Tucson for the winter  |
Tucson! Love Tucson. Was just there in March. Saw the Sonora Desert Museum for the third time. Just can't stay away. Also visited Tombstone for the first time. Had a wonderful visit.
|
I have cousins that live somewhere around the Tucson area...dont' know where.
I know in the airport here, there's some pictures and storys about PanAm and their flights. Something about PanAm being the first on island or something or other. |
Pan Am was the first airline to MANY places, especially across the Pacific in the China Clipper - the beautiful Flying Boat. We're about to celebrate the 75th anniversary of that magnificent airplane. I'll save the details for a time when I'm not hijacking Terri's thread!

No, I'm not with the Chamber of Commerce  |
Terri, it really is beautiful there!!! I bet you'll miss it, especially about half way through your first winter back! LOL Awesome pics!!
|
Miss this place? Maybe some of the people, but nope...won't miss it!
|
Thanks Terri , just beautiful pics . Loved the banana tree pic but that spider is big , isn't it ? My daughter saw it and cringed ! She hates spiders . I'm sure in a way you will miss being in Guam lol. Do you know where he will be stationed next ? Annie
|
The spider really wasn't that big. We zoomed in for a better view. Was about the size of a quarter, little bigger maybe.
We are hoping for VA, well, that's what we are penciled in for. |
