I have been watching 4 eagle cams and the 2 that got snow I had to send the links to my kids and let them know it was nice not to be an eagle. I felt so bad for the DC eagles. That snow isn't melting very fast. I saw them change off on who was sitting on them and the eggs looked very dry and cozy in their little hole.

I just loved it when the parent would come back with squirrel vitals and line the chicks up and feed them one by one. It was like she was telling them: Line up, put your wings back and get ready for squirrel dinner. In no time there was nothing left of that hapless squirrel, not even a bone.

I've sure got extra squirrels this year. No winter and 7 of them are raiding my bird feeders. A friend said to put a slinky on the feeder. I'll have to move the ones hanging from the trees, but I'm going to try it.

Battle Axe, please explain the SLINKY thing. I need to deter squirrels, too. Thank you.

It's about 9:40pm here on the east coast and I was watching the Mom eagle sleeping - she actually lays her head down - ok I've never seen any bird sleeping. Anyway, I muted my tv and listened and I could swear she was snoring quietly. Between Planet Earth II and these wonderful cams I'm learning so much about our wonderful world.

LOL! And I'm sitting in California, USA watching elephants and
zebras drinking from a pond in Africa on www.africam.com !
Oh, how I love technology!
I'm also watching the eagles and hoping they are warm enough.
A few years ago I watched the eagles on Whitby Island hatch and fledge.
It was thrilling.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DB_Dh8uA7bg This link should explain
the "slinky theory" and it seems to be working for me also.
I don't have the elaborate set up on the video, but just stapled
a slinky to the bottom of the feeder and around the pole.
