I, too, lived in the time we recycled and didn't know it. I was 17 before I ate in a "cafe" and had a store bought dress when I was 14. Helped my mother do laundry with the wringer washer and hung clothes outside to dry. How did we do it??????

It's sad, the younger generation thinks us older folks are so behind times, I try to tell my grandchildren what they have missed out on and they look at me like I'm nuts.

Thank You for posting this 'Green Thing'. I received it from the local recycling center, read it and threw it in the recycle bin. Afterwards I thougt...there is a good sermon in there...and wanted to pass it along to our minister. Thanks again.

We recycled when recycling wasn't cool. Now with the flimsy recycling they do today they feel like they are saving the planet. Some progress is good, some isn't. We didn't need "green ways" then as we didn't abuse the planet like now days. I grew up in the 50s and remember all the above.

The 50's society will never be again, at least until the world starts over from scratch again.

All the things stated above. To the current generation. Take a look at yourselves first before judging us.

Preachin' to the choir girl. I hear ya.They don' know what hard times are either.

So true - I sent this to a "30 something" that is always promoting recycling to the older generation.
