Is this one scary too? Do any of the main characters (of which I'm emotionally attached) die? Does it have zombies eating brains? You can PM if you wish to not spoil the story for others... ChickenMary  |
Speaking of letting everything go when you have a good book I'll never forget when I read Sophie's Choice by William Styron I practically neglected my family for several days!! It was a long one too and I simply could not put it down!

It was another great read from King. I enjoyed it.

I LOVED the Stand! I read alot of his older ones, not may of the new ones, will have to look for it!

Stephen King is my favorite horror writer and I loved "Under the Dome"!! I'd stopped reading some of his most recent works, especially if they were co-written, because they just didn't equate with his earlier books. I took a chance on "Under the Dome" and I'm glad I did!!

So I decided to read a little while in the store before I made the $14 purchase(that could buy fabric). It reminded me of "The Stand". Someday I may get up the courage to read it, but for now I'll stick to easy reads. 400 pages or less that I get at the Good Will for 50 cents a piece.

Thanks for the response.
I think I will check it out of the local library, I like a good, long read, just not a gross/depressing one. I read The Cell and thought the idea was genius, but not the zombies. and hated the ending. |

I have to admit, I haven't read any Steven King, mostly because of the "scary" reputation. That being said, I think two of my most favorite movies are SK movies, "Shawshank Redemption" and "Stand By Me." Both, outstanding flicks, not my "vision" of Steven King at all.
As for summer reading, I read the latest Janet Evanovich number book 16 something. Then another JE book, not very good, and now I'm reading something I just grabbed off the shelf in the library, "Elvis and the Grateful Dead." Elvis is a dog, and the dead are the mystery part of the book. Only into it four chapters, and so far so good. |
