My Dr. told me to start taking vitamin D every day a few months ago. He gave me a shot of Vitamin D first. I didn't feel bad before but I have a much better feeling good feeling now. And I have noticed I sleep better. I take 20,000 units a day sometimes more if I'm not out in the sun for any length of time. I buy the 5,000 unit gel caps. I've been reading about Vitamin D studies and it's really amazing. Kids who don't play outside in the sun for a few hours every day need lots of vitamin D. Teens need a lot of it along with calcium. No adverse reactions to Vitamin D has ever been reported. It's cheap so ask your Dr. if it will benefit you to take Vitamin D.

According to my dermatologist, never, never go out without sunscreen.

thanks for the information!

My Dr. also put me on Vitamin D in mid winter and it did wonders for my energy levels. I was suffering from the mid winter blues and didn't want to do much of anything. He started me on Vitamin D and B12 shots once a month and I am like a different person.

My Doctor has told me the same thing, Taking vitamin D is one of the best things you can do for your body, besides eating the proper foods. I have been taking vitamin D gel cap's for two years now.

My Dr.'s info and what I have read, if you do not have problems from the sun, it's okay to go without sunscreen for 15 min. That's enough time to get a lot of Vitamin D. But it's easy to just to take Vitamin D if you have to use sunscreen. Sunscreen blocks Vitamin D. I think natural sunlight is the pure stuff so I try to get 15 mins a day in it with at least 20% of my skin exposed to the sun. I do keep my face protected. Don't need anymore wrinkles.

After I started taking vitamin D my asthma improved considerably.

My DH's doctor suggested that he start taking vitamin D. Much research has been done, it seems to help with many conditions

My doctor just put me on vitamin D also and I thought I got plenty of sun!

I started taking it last summer after reading about the benefits in Prevention magazine. I am not taking as much as you are but I do feel much better 'on' it than not. Last summer up here in New England, we had a very rainy July and that was part of my motivation to try it out.
