I gave myself a butterfly tatoo on my shoulder for my 69th birthday. I love it.

You're right about that, common myth is if you put your husband or wife's name on your body, the marriage will not last.

Some people won't like this reply, but I was brought up being taught that a tatoo is a "tramp stamp" - sorry, but that's what Mom called it. Unless you are in the military, and then it needs to be hidden under clothes...that blue blob will be making a first impression for you the rest of your life.

Johanna, I heard something like that when I was younger but I really think that was when only sailors etc had them.
They are very stylish and while I don't have any I think some are really cute.
My Dad absolutely HATED ankle bracelets- he thought they automatically labeled you a tramp and to this day I can't wear one, not b/c I think he's right, but it would break his heart and it's not that important to me :D

Not me. Pierced ears are as far as I go with self-inflicted pain!

No tattoo and I did not have my ears pierced until I was 40. I always thought it was barbaric. Everyone told me I had to do something really wild and crazy on my 40th, so I had my ears pierced!
