I was born and raised in PA and both my parents were from Ohio, but I have lived in FL about 30 years.

A number of years ago in Dallas, while listening to a local radio show, the announcer was making a traffic report. He said "Traffic is backed up for 3 miles on Stemmons due to a dump truck tumping over across from the market hall." He had a guest on the show, obviously not from Texas who said "What did the truck do?" The announcer said 'It tumped over." The guest comes back with "What is tumped.? By then I'm 'cracking up'. The announcer had to explain that the trucked turned over on it's side.

Boy this has been an interesting read! SewingSew, circling the drain (CTD) has the same meaning in hospitals too....

Some of these I've heard of, most are new to me though. Had an elderly aide (from W Virginia) when my gram was getting on who could often be heard saying "Oh, bless her pea pickin' heart." Found out years later from a co-worker that the aide was not being nice when she said that about us!

DH, who is 50, says "Crazier than a s**t house rat" a lot.

My dad also says "If you're born to be hung, you'll never be shot."--memory brought back by previous poster-thanks!
