Bras here at the thrift store are always less then $1 and even less if they are in bad shape. Once in a while I'll find an old girdle with the firm stays in it. I can find lot of uses for those stays.

Ive seen 2 liter bottles used..cut into strips..I use a large cottage cheese container to make some...just cut in strips and cover....very strong and holds it shape very good...its been over a yr and still working well

plastic lids off coffee cans work also just cut the rim is what you use.

ALSO ...if you buy Walmart sheets right now they come in a little fabric pouch..it works great as a thread catcher, make the pin cushion and attach to the bag the sheet came in...use your choice of plastic to hold it open and cover with a nice fabric to hide the plastic
