Your reference to using Miracle Whip made me think of my sister's recent home fire. Her house completely burned to the ground last Saturday (Feb. 19). One day last week they went to the burnt out remains to see if they could salvage anything. Well, my 11 year old niece Hannah found a jar of Miracle Whip that had been in the refrigerator. The jar was melted a bit, but they removed the lid and looked inside. My sister said the contents were still white and it still smelled like Miracle Whip!  I don't know exactly what that says about Miracle Whip, but I sorta think it might be up there alongside Twinkies for shelf life!   BTW: other than the Miracle Whip and one pretty scorched photo album of Hannah they haven't been able to recover anything. And, no, they didn't keep the Miracle Whip. :? |
Fried egg sandwich with a runny yolk.

Shaved Virginia Baked Ham on rye with lettuce and tomato.

Start with home made white or wheat bread, grilled with slices of colby and jack cheese then filled with solid white albacore tuna salad made with Mayo not Miracle whip. You get the hot crispy grilled bread and the tang of the melted cheese before you taste the cold tuna salad. Perfection

I make my tuna with mayo, chopped celery, red onion and hard boiled egg. Get requests for it all the time.

There used to be a place down at Branson who had a prime rib sandwich for $4.95, and came with pickle spear and chips. The prime rib was sliced then and piled about 2 inches high on the bun. It was wonderful. They tore down the restaurant when they built the Dixie Stampede.

Baked Ham, lettuce and tomato fresh from the garden, smear fresh mayo on fresh bread, cut it in half and eat with crispy chips and pickle chips and wash it down with a Dr. Pepper.

Here in the South BBQ is the sandwich of choice, but you can get Fried Pork Chop sandwich (bone in), Fish sandwich (using Buffalo fish which is real bony), and Fried Peanut Butter and Banana sandwiches.

My DHs favorite is a tenderloin. We have plate size pork tenderloins that are pounded thin and then breaded. and then deep fried and served on a large hamburger bun. The tenderloin is usually twice the size of the bun. I have been told it is a delicacy only found in Central to SE Iowa and northern Mo. Some places serve nearly paper thin tenderloins and some(the best ones) are more of a 1/2" thick or so. He is more of a mustard man than ketchup and he loves dill pickles. So he usually gets everything on his tenderloin mustard ketchup dill pickles(some places serve bread and butter pickles instead of dill) onion slices lettuce and tomatoe.

My own recipe: Pirogs
Broil halved pistolette. Saute chopped Onion, Chicken, shrimp and artichoke hearts add roasted garlic primavera sauce. Scoup onto grilled pistolette halves. Top with mozarella cheese (don't scimp) Broil again till cheese gets brown spots and melts. (Can also be served on bagel crisps or crackers or lettuce as appetizer). Oh Ya! |

Ordinarily it would be a tuna melt - tuna salad and white cheese on white bread then grilled so cheese melts. For some reason lately can't get enough ham and swiss.
|
bologna and cheese
turkey and cranberry sauce grilled cheese chicken and avocado |
seedless soft rye bread, butter (not margerine) and swiss cheese.......with a glass of butermilk.
|
The BLT's my DH makes! Lots of mayo and just the right amount of salt and pepper added!
His Turkey sandwich with cranberry sauce, stuffing, and lettuce runs a close second! |
Hands down, BLT.

I love Reuben sandwiches- corned beef and sauerkraut with Thousand Island sauce! Yummy!
|
Grilled cheese is my fave. Also love turkey, bacon and swiss. I like hot sandwiches best and I don't eat any condiments!
|
My favorite is WW bread, swiss cheese, mayo, and a nice thick slice of sweet onion. MMMMMMMMM
Second favorite - we call a garden sandwich, only available in the summer - straight out of the garden - WW bread, sliced tomato, sliced cucumbers, green or red pepper slices and green onions with salt and pepper. It is slippery and falls to pieces all over the place and you have to lick the drips off your fingers, but oh ...... yummy! |
My mom loves onion sandwiches. She uses whole wheat bread and usually butter or mustard and large thick slices of onion.

Dark rye bread with butter and with a nice thick slice of sweet onion and just a sprinkle of salt.
|
Okay I will eat with relish all of the above except the liverwurst.
My favorite is toasted Potato Bread, Chunky Peanut Butter mixed with Honey and butter. If we have bananas, I slice a half one on it. Or potato chips. |
Whole wheat bread, homemade meatloaf, Miracle Whip and bread and butter pickles. If the pickles fall out, snatch them up and pop them in the mouth and get the jar and replenish the sandwich.
|
Bacon buttie/sarnie ;-)
Cold roast pork with stuffiing and apple sauce. |
Honestly, I'll eat most anything slapped between two slices of white bread with Hellman's mayo. However, if I had to pick a favorite it would be liverwurst with mustard on one slice of bread and mayo on the other (never, ever put the two condiments together on the same slice of bread!) with thinly sliced vidalia onions. Yummo!
