I also have a Nook. I know many think the books are expensive, but there are a ton of books for under $5.00. I enjoy scifi, action/adventure, pschyo thrillers, who done it's and I never fail to find a good read :)

I love my Kindle. They have a new one that is only $119, it has ads on the screensaver, but for the savings I think it would be worth it. The screensaver only comes on when the reader is not in use, so what would I care what was on it.

My daughter has the nook and my husband has a sony reader. I have the free download to my computer of the kindle. I love my free version since I can read my book on my phone also. My daugher loves her nook it can acess the library and download where the kindle cannot. Just do a lot of research and talk to people!

I have a Kindle. Kindle is proprietary which means you have to purchase books from Amazon - or convert books purchased from Barnes & Nobel or Borders through a free online site called Calibre. I have not used Calibre yet so I can't say if it is easy or hard or if it even works. Books are prices about the same on Amazon as at Barnes & Nobel and Borders. There are thousands of free books available too that will load on to Kindle. You can get thousands of 'classics' at gutenberg.com for any e-reader you purchase. Keep in mind if you purchase a Nook or another brand, you may not be able to down load books from Amazon.
Having an e-reader that is back lit (like a computer screen) makes it easier to read in bed, but the bright light may actually keep you awake longer. There are lights that will clip on to your e-reader making it much more like reading a printed page.
If you can go to Barnes & Nobel or Borders and look at what they have, it might help you decide. Do your research to find what features you might like and who has the best price. Good luck and enjoy your new e-reader.

If you can find one & can afford it, get an IPad. It's much more than a reader, although several e-readers are available for it. I have one & love it. When I first saw the IPad I wondered what I'd do with it, now I find I can't do without it. You can download several types of e-books to it on IBooks. Just my thoughts.

I have a kindle and an iPad. I totally love my kindle. My DH. Has loaded it up with books-all free or under $5.there is a lot of sites on the Internet for free snooks, but the same book may not be free all the time as the prices change, so it's a good idea to check often. I have the kindle cover with a built in reading light-well worth the cost(around$60) it powers off the kindle battery. I love the no-glare screen of the kindle as apposed to the glass on the iPad. DH just told me the other day that the libraries will make books avaiable to all e readers. Yay! The only drawback to the kindle is the battery-I guess when it croaks, you can't replace it yourself. On the color issue,if you are reading a lot of magazines, then maybe a color screen would be nice, but the books I read don't have pictures anyway! Ha ha

I didn't think I'd want an eBook, but my husband gave me one for Christmas and I love it! I have Library cards for three different Library systems and so I have the advantage of lots and lots of books to choose from.One of the techies and one of the libraries mentioned that the have some problems with the Kindle. Also if you wait a bit, the prices do go down.

Last year my DH asked if I wanted an ereader. He did a lot of research and bought me a Sony. I liked it at first. You can easily increase the print size. But then the battery did not last long. It got to where it would only last 2 hours after a recharge. Don't understand that since it wasn't in color or backlit. Then, the really annoying part was that you could not have pdf files and epubs on the reader at the same time. If you do, then you can't access the epubs. Really annoying! A young man at the library who's a computer/ereader wizard tried to work with us. He said the Sony was the only one that had this problem.

I was really getting frustrated. DH took me to Barnes and Noble to look at the Nook. I fell in love the the Nook Color. Even though it was twice as much as a regular nook, it did so much more. It has internet capability and you can enlarge the keypad to type on. What's really ironic is that the Sony, when we bought it, was $300! It drastically came down in price shortly after we bought it! So, the Nook Color at $249 was actually cheaper!

My books from B&N download directly to my Nook. They even have monthly freebies and also a discount list. New releases are expensive, but they are no matter where you buy them.

And you know what? A few years ago I purchased 3 online books from Quilters Paradise. I downloaded them to my Nook. They are not formatted for it, but they are readable. So if anyone else from this board has purchased those books, try downloading them to your ereader and let us know how they look.

I have a Nook Color. Did lots of research before choosing this and am really happy with it. Being able to borrow from the library was a big factor in my choice. It even has a reverse screen (black background with white print for night reading so I don't have to have a light on and disturb hubby. Yesterday I got an email from B&N saying the new software is free to download to access web version email, facebook, videos and lots more. Since Christmas I have only bought two 'in-hand' books because they were both the last of a series by my favorite authors.
The Nook Color also lets you use a SD card to store files.

Me too! I love my Kindle. You can get so many different kinds of books, and can even get lots for free. I also have a few games (like Solitaire) for when I get tired of reading. It's so handy to take with me and small enough to fit in my purse.
