I use facebook to keep in contact with son that is in Iraq, and my other sons, and other family & friends.
I also use it for family people i work with games links etc.
I have Facebook page. I don't spend any time there, however. I have you as one of the businesses I like.
No, thanks. I use up enough time with e-mail and here, I do not need another place to get stalled out. I do not think that is a very safe place to rest a while. Here, I feel safe,
I use it for family & friends, classmates. I do not play the games. Chat usually with those that dont live close.
I have an account because my grown children have them. Apparently, people I knew from high school would get in touch with them and ask them to have me contact them. I told the kids that I was in contact with anyone that I had any interest in knowing about. So yes, I have an account, but basically don't use it. I have posted a few photos from vacations so the children know what we are up to but prefer not to have the whole world know what I am doing every waking moment of my life. Ann in TN

I have a FB page, & love keeping up w/family & friends & seeing the new pics of little ones. I don't do any games, would rather be doing other things. But I do check it a few times a day.
I don't and never will.. Sorry to be so negative.
I use Facebook.
started out as a way to stay in touch with my children. Then I found people I graduated from high school with, then college, the QB peeps, then my other passion (suicide prevention) has brought me very dear friendships. I get work through fb- people know what I do and I get 3 or 4 deals a year.
So- you just have to remember- set your settings to friends only, have your friends be known to you and be careful what you post. Now linked in- whatever is the purpose of that? I have an account but other than accepting requests, I haven't clue what to do to make it work for me. |
I only use FB to keep up with relatives who live far away and find old friends. I just found a family I used to babysit for many many years ago and have been communicating with them. It's been fun....Hate the games though.
Too much happening there. I refuse to take up my time fussing with it.

Exactly. People who have issues with Facebook are not setting their privacy options correctly. I will say FB doesn't make it the easiest thing in the universe to set them, but it is possible to make sure on occasion that nothing is set the way you don't want it. I don't play games, I don't need a lot of the "apps" so I have it set to SECURE ( you see ' https' in your address. ) Just because there is a space to enter your home address or phone number doesn't mean you HAVE to, anymore than you have to give your complete birthday, or 'attach' yourself to other people by calling them husband, daughter or niece when you friend them. I enjoy FB, there were 116 people in my graduating class, about half are on FB and I think it will make the possibility of a 30th reunion far more possible (*and enjoyable)....we never did do a 10, 20 0r 25. I "DO" get sucked in there, however, because it is MUCH easier to read and respond than it is here or at any other message board. I am forever looking for the LIKE button here!!! LMAO       So, after all that, you can FRIEND me... Trish Casey-Green (put quilt board in message :-P |
FB is the best way for me to keep track of the kids, especially the boys who don't write or call often. An message sent thru FB usually gets noticed and answered. And knowing when their on-line helps to make that contact quicker!

Not me.

I use Facebook but only to stay in touch with family and friends..... no games... they drive me crazy and I don't have time. I need to be on here reading and looking at all the good stuff!
Not me either. Been invaded a couple of times because of other people who joined carelessly. If the only way I can find out something about a relative is by going on line to a forum that can be hacked, they don'y care enough. I can live with that.
I love Facebook and use it to keep up with friends, family etc., but also for sites such as Keepsake quilting, Connecting Threads...and possibly, Superior Threads!!
Ive considered it, and even made an account about a million yrs ago when it was just starting, lol. I did the same thing with twitter, when it started - I think there were about 6K people in it when I signed on. I never used either account!
The 14 yo girl next door was over this week and was chatting away and told me she was deleting her facebk friends, wall, posts, and only using it for contacting family (her moms family is in Austria)- she said it was boring. Dont know if anything happened, she just doesnt want to bother w/ it anymore. She doesnt tweet, either. I think her whole thing is just the IM by phone. (texting) sharet |
Just being on the computer your privacy is not private, Its what you put on your profile.
I use facebook for family and friends. It is a great way to keep in touch with family and friends. I don't play any of the games though.
I am on facebook, I belong to many quilting pages.
Not me
I only use facebook to keep in touch with family and friends. We message, chat and exchange pictures. This way I am able to watch my out-of-state grandkids grow and see their accomplishments, etc. I don't "friend" anyone from work. My personal life and work are kept separate.
I use it occasionally just for family and friends, nothing else.
I have an account, but prefer to spend my time on this forum
I was connected for a short time and then read several articles about the extensive data mining that the company uses and the fact that even if you 'unjoin' everything that has ever been entered stays on a server somewhere forever....
I decided that our privacy is going the way of the dinosaur and the social networks are a contributing factor-left over a year ago and now spend my "social" time here :-D :-D |
I'm on Facebook but I don't play games and mainly follow family and friends along with quilting sites.
I do Facebook, but spend more time on this quilting board.
I do facebook and think it has opened up my world to so much. It started with family and friends and now includes a whole lot of quilting. I, as well, keep looking for a 'like' button on QB. It wastes so much time on here having to comment on any subject when a simple 'like' would do, so many times I don't comment.

I use facebook for friends and family.

Yes, I've been on FB a couple years now ... nice way to keep up with family and friends. Do block all games from those who are interested in them. Also Hide certain relatives posts, but still can go to their wall to find out what they are up to these days or contact if needed. This past year have also "like" certain quilting-related businesses and couple pet organizations.
I use it and get on alot of quilt sits that way.
I love FB...we've moved several times and have friends and family in several states. Love the quilting friends and sites too!
I use it but really only to keep track of family and close friends. Don't do the games and don't use it much to track businesses.
Email has become a dinosaur already. My DD posted pics of the new baby on Facebook on day two after her birth and still hasn't found the time to send any to my email. I go to Facebook to keep up with the family but I'm slow to learn all the other networking possibilities and can't find groups of my interests to save my soul. Need to take lessons from my 17 YO. daughter me thinks!!
I love facebook. my grandkids set me up at Thanksgiving a few years ago and we all talk together, share photos and just keep in touch. I have reconnected with some school friends, and some past neighbors and past Church friends. I love it.
I use it, but seldom look at it. I keep in touch w/ e-mail or phone...can't stand all the games and the news about people I never heard of. Guess I should quit it, but I like the disease support groups I belong to (Carcinoid and Sjogrens)
I haven't been back to Facebook since we got a virus that way and it cost a lot to have our computer repaired.
