You will be home in the states before you know it!! So, take time to enjoy your last days there, and think about all the things you will miss. You are arriving at a great time , Spring, so it will be neither hot or cold. :-D

I know it's North Carolina...just got excited! Meant to type North, but got South in there for some reason....

Grandbabies will be just about 9 hours away or so Mapquest says, but with me driving, could take as little as 4 hours lol

Ninnie, just have Morty standing by...will pick him up on my way thru NC. lol

Montanaquilter...would love to drive up for a visit, but with just so little time, it's next to impossible. I will, however, be planning a road trip. Hubby says he'll take some leave time in the spring of next year so we can take a nice driving vacation. he doesn't like to fly, so.....driving is good!

peaceandjoy 01-29-2010 08:59 AM

You know, Karla (Barnbum) is just around the corner from me... We never seem to see each other any more; I guess we have different circles. I tried to get younger DD to go there w/ me last year when she had her babies, but DD was being a pill. Ah, she's at college now, so I enjoy the quiet, lol.

Yes, yes, a trip north would be perfect. You might have noticed in previous posts, we have TONS of great shops around here.

You are almost at the end for me, for the IRR - which means summer? I think there are a lot of members here that live not too far (globally speaking - I'll say 3 or so hours). You could have quite a trip!

sharon b 01-29-2010 09:01 AM

Keeping everything crossed for you WOO HOO ! So excited for you !!!
And lots of stops and roads trips are a MUST

reneebobby 01-29-2010 10:22 AM

Oh boy Terri is going to shop and shop and shop on her road trip. I loved that drive from Cherry Pit to Yuma, I should have stayed there but alas I wouldn'thave met DH so I guess it was a good thing.

gaigai 01-29-2010 10:27 AM

Yay for Terri!! Just make sure your stash and sewchines don't get lost! Woo hoo!! Terri's gonna be incountry!! Let the parties begin as soon as she hits the ground here!!

Barbm 01-29-2010 10:33 AM

Congrats Terri! I'd pack now so I wouldn't hold anything up. :)

I'll come see you, my Favorite vaca is Sandbridge, a short jaunt from Little Creek. I've been to Little Creek for softball tournaments- that's how we discovered VA for our family vacations.

Welcome home girlfriend!

Shemjo 01-29-2010 10:36 AM

Wonderful news! Sounds like you have lots of plans!

Honey 01-29-2010 10:48 AM

First of all I just want to thank you for what you have given and given up being a military wife. Second, please thank your DH for his service. It is truly appreciated! Third, you could take the "northern scenic route" and stop off in Wisconsin! So glad that you are getting the move you want. Welcome back to the mainland!

Rose Hall 01-29-2010 10:54 AM

If you drive through Lynchburg, VA let me know, we can do lunch.

Rose Hall

Margie 01-29-2010 12:08 PM

Head north east to PA first and then south to VA :)

I will be looking for you.

Margie :)

sewjoyce 01-29-2010 12:55 PM

Terri, with all the board members wanting to meet you, and you being only one person, I think all those that can should meet up somewhere central.
Big coming home party, woo hoo...with mini's and balloons????
sounds like fun, fun, fun! WOO HOO!

I'm thinking the same thing, Mousie!

Peaceandjoy....Of course a trip to Upstate NY is a MUST! Gotta go get MY Rosie! I'll have to take my van for that trip, make sure I have all the seats out and have it nice and comfy for Rosie's travel back to my house. :) :) :)
Now, just have to figure out HOW to sneak Rosie off Karla's property and not get shot! lmao

I thought you moved to the midwest? Last I knew you were in GA and headed west or am I thinking of someone else?

I'm just hoping we get lucky and get a place to live within a day of arriving. We are really not wanting to rent a place, so hoping there is something open in housing. Have to have a couple friends check the areas out for me.

kwhite 01-29-2010 05:34 PM

Road trips sound Great. If you make to Pa give me a yell. I will travel and we can shop!!!! Or if the time is right I can meet you and Ninnie at the huge place in NC!!!! My brother wouldn't mind seeing me again.

Dawn Hendrix 01-29-2010 05:36 PM

THe job fell thru out west...... we were part of the Great American LAYOFFFFFFFF.. after 4 months with no job he landed this job that is BEYOND anything we could have dreamed for sooooo now we live in a little town in NC. and we have a BIG OLE house and I have a QUILT ROOM with 3 walk in closets... GOD IS GOOD!

tlrnhi 01-29-2010 05:37 PM

PA is an option to drive thru. Actually, not sure which way hubby wants to go, but I'm thinking we are taking the "southern" route going back cross country since a stop to see babies IS A MUST!
I'll be mapping a Road Trip once we get back.
I have to plan for Houston Show, so will be mapping that out. That will also be a trip to visit with babies too! :)

Beachlady, don't forget to let me know. I'm only about 3 1/2 to 4 hours from Little Creek. We can have our own Quilt Retreat, then head up to Ohio to visit the minis, my family in West by God Virginia, and then stop everywhere there's a quilt shop in between! Woohoo! Fun fun fun.

Dawn Hendrix 01-29-2010 05:42 PM

tlrnhi 01-29-2010 05:57 PM

I'm thinking there's going to be a party going on!
WOOHOO!!

Dawn, sorry about hubbys job, but glad he landed a GREAT one!
Have a few friends that had the same thing happen, but one is still struggling. He's wanting that "dream" job and when he calls and complains to us, I tell him to KEEP DREAMING!

In Lycoming county, about 2 hours from Lewistown (your county seat according to Wikipedia.) PM me if you ever want to get together. AND, I think we definitely need to find a way to celebrate Terri's homecoming! I would love to meet her!

mountain-moma 01-29-2010 06:12 PM

Oh Sweetie,i'm so glad for you and hubby just think you will be back in the states in no time i'm from W.v but i really like Virginia as well i just wanted to say WELCOME Home(:)

tlrnhi 01-29-2010 06:12 PM

I was just thinking.....
I'll have TONS of boxes that will need unpacking once we get there and get a place to live. Anyone want to volunteer to help? :) :) :)

Can't tell you how many boxes, but the count of crates that we had moving here was 16 1/2. One crate was my curio and the 1/2 crate was my couch. So........any takers?

2 Doods 01-29-2010 06:15 PM

Doing the happy dance for you Terri! Just think of all the quilt shops along the way.....it could be a really fun trip!

Do I get a trunk show of your quilts too? Might consider it!

tlrnhi 01-29-2010 06:24 PM

Trunk show of quilts......hmmm.......i have a couple tops that aren't finished, but as to finished quilts...nope, they all get given away.
But, sure....you can come and have your own little trunk show. There'll be TONS of boxes for the sewing room that will need to be unpacked. Think you are up to the challenge?;)

sewjoyce 01-29-2010 06:27 PM

Well, Terri, to keep your unpacking at a minimum, you could just send me your fabric and I'll keep it safe for you

mary quite contrary 01-29-2010 06:32 PM

I'm actually coming your way next week. However, I don't think I will even be getting off the plane. I'm on the way to visit my new grandbaby. I'll be on your little pebble for about an hour from 3:30 to 4:30 in the morning.

montanaquilter 01-29-2010 06:35 PM

you know what we need to do ladies?? we need to have a forum get together!! someday meet somewhere central and meet each other and party for the weekend, maybe do some quilting together. They do these kind of things for twins, little people and for whatever that I think it would be grand if we did it too!! Maybe in a few years we can plan on it!! Wouldn't that be awesome!!

amma 01-29-2010 06:35 PM

Great news :D:D:D
Keeping everything crossed for ya!!!
I will be heading out that way about Mid-late June too

Aww...that sucks!
Heck, would LOVE to meet up if you had more time OFF the plane. Wouldn't matter what time it was.....
You'll probably transfer planes, but in order to get into the terminal where I would be, you'd have to clear Customs and all. Just a pain in the arse to do that. You would need to have at least 4 hours off the plane in order for it to work.
