Some tattoos are placed where they can't be seen for personal reasons. Another reason is a major one: The work place doesn't allow them to be visible! My tattoos are visible when I am outside of work because my personal clothes cover less than work clothes.

olebat 08-11-2011 04:51 AM

No way. Although man has been defacing the body since the beginning of time, I see no reason to do so. I don't even have pierced ears. When I inherited a beautiful collection of earrings, I thought about it for maybe five minutes. I'm definitely a no frills person. My only jewelry, a wedding band, occasionally a simple necklace. Don't even wear makeup. While I admire a smartly dressed and adorned woman, it just doesn't fit my casual outdoors lifestyle. I even find temporary tattoos disgusting, on men and women.

jitkaau 08-11-2011 04:55 AM

Never.

My dad had a cousin that was a prisoner during WWII. They tortured him by tattooing almost his whole body with tattoos applied with bamboo. VERY painful. He was a really nice guy that was turned away by many after he came back home. People didn't like them and wouldn't listen to why he had them. To this day I can't stand to see tattoos. They remind me of how he had been so mistreated first by the Japanese and then by his fellow countrymen.

I wouldn't get a tatoo. But my husband got one of a quilt with a needle and thread and my name under it.

That is freaking awesome!!! :P

kalady 08-11-2011 05:40 AM

I have never ever ever seen a tattoo that looks like it is good art. That sewing machine looks awful to me. Imho tattoos are always uglier as they age and blur. Ick

gigi4419 08-11-2011 05:42 AM

No!

debby wicke 08-11-2011 05:47 AM

No, I don't care for marking my body. But if you like that, go for it.

sandpat 08-11-2011 05:50 AM

Nope

Nancy Ingham 08-11-2011 05:51 AM

I would get a tattoo in a NY minute if at 65 I had a nice clean spot to put one!!! :D

Quilter7x 08-11-2011 05:52 AM

I saw Mickey Lawler's daughter this weekend. She has lots of tattoos on one arm and none on the other. She was saying maybe she should get a quilting one on her other arm. It was a fun, lighthearted conversation. She was really nice!

sewnsewer2 08-11-2011 06:18 AM

No way! I stick myself enough with needles, I don't want anyone else sticking me! LOL

Tudey 08-11-2011 06:20 AM

Um, NO---those involve needles and i am a big wuss! I have, however, had a water based "Born to Quilt" tattoo---I posted a picture in here some time back of me and my quilting friends sporting our tatts!

grandme26 08-11-2011 06:34 AM

sharoney 08-11-2011 06:39 AM

mmmmm.....no.

mhansen6 08-11-2011 06:40 AM

No thank you. I like my quilts on my beds not on my body.

feliciava77 08-11-2011 06:41 AM

I have 10 tattoos but most are hidden when my clothes are on. I love the art of them. The only one that shows when I am dressed is the one on my chest, which is for my children. It is Eeyore, Tinkerbell, and Piglet. But even that one can be covered if I choose. None of mine are quilt related, but it is a neat idea. As far as aging with them, they are all meaningful to me, and have fun with it. Age makes us saggy everywhere, a figure a saggy tattoo will just match everything else. LOL

Zephyr 08-11-2011 06:43 AM

No.

People get too hung up on what happens to the body naturally as people age. Generally, people get tattoos for a personal reason and it isn't necessarilly for others viewing. I personally don't care what me or my tattoo will look like when I am 80. And I certainly can't concern myself as to what others think of my saggy baggy body or tattoo. IMHO!

Donna Bess 08-11-2011 07:00 AM

No tats for me. Getting my ears pierced is as far as I want to go altering my body.

Z Any Mouse 08-11-2011 07:08 AM

I am a "blank canvas" right now (age 49), but plan on getting a quilt themed tatt when I win my first quilt show. Now all I have to do is enter, lol.

Also, someone experienced with tattoos recommended that you can draw your design where you want it with a Sharpie. If you're tired of looking at it after a couple weeks, then it's not for you. Either change the design or ditch the idea all together.

thrums 08-11-2011 07:12 AM

At one time in the 70's I wanted a hummingbird on my big toe. Don't ask me why.... I didn't get it done.

Stitchit123 08-11-2011 07:18 AM

NoNoNo-- If I want to see art I'll go to the museum - Theres no pain or worries that you could catch some horrible disease from used equipment or unsafe handling of the inks.

That's so sweet. I wonder if my husband would do that.

I have a ladybug on my big toe. Tats on your toes fade sooooo quickly because the skin is renewing faster on toes and fingers than everywhere else. It's so faded now (12 years later) that you can barely even see it.

hpylady 08-11-2011 08:00 AM

Never even considered one! I have seen some that are beautiful, like my nephew, his is praying hands with beads between the fingers, cross wrapped with the purple scarf around it and clouds in the background. Now that was breath taking!

I have never wanted to have one, because one day I would get tired of it and I wouldn't want to be left with scars to get it removed. Beside all that, I would not trust a needle going in my body from a stranger. Just how sterile is that person's equipment?

Thumbs up though to all of you who have a tat that is beautiful and meaningful.

Jeanniejo 08-11-2011 08:03 AM

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It involves needles and I don't mean quilting needles!!!

caspharm 08-11-2011 08:11 AM

Not me, unless it was a paste on. :)

roseOfsharon 08-11-2011 08:15 AM

lol, a tattoo at 62, I don't think so! I can just see that quilt getting crinkley and crinkley ( or is that wrinkly and wrinkly) with age! Of course some would say that is it's sign of age!

Sharon

macygma 08-11-2011 08:17 AM

Love that machine but it looks too painful LOL

they aren't too bad unless you get it where the skin stretches over a bone.

I agree with you. I've seen some aged tats, and they sure don't look like what they did when first gotten. LOL

Nolee 08-11-2011 08:22 AM

NEVER!!!
