Not on your life! They turn me off. They look tacky.

karenpatrick 08-11-2011 09:05 AM

No way!!

Dix 08-11-2011 09:08 AM

In my working years, I was OBGYN nurse. One of our pregnant patients had a butterfly tatoo on her low right abdomen. It got larger as she did and when she delivered you should have seen the stretch marks on the butterfly wings. Not a pretty site!!!

yes i've always wanted one. a honeybee on the front of my shoulder. i'm just worried that it would look like a fly when i was 70. lol

drgranny 08-11-2011 09:44 AM

Just think of all the girls now who get "tramp stamps" on their lower backs. In 30 years more or less they will be old ladies with sagging tramp stamps!!!

Learner747 08-11-2011 09:49 AM

Absolutely not.

I'm sorry girls, but that's funny.! Tramp Stamps! We did use to think when we saw girls with tats as tramps , didn't we? lol But in all seriousness, I have seen some really pretty tats on ladies that were really pretty. I can't stop laughing!!!!!! ;)

dreamboat 08-11-2011 10:48 AM

Not me. NEVER.

bjnicholson 08-11-2011 10:50 AM

Not...cluck...me...cluck, cluck, cluck...too chicken!

duckydo 08-11-2011 12:22 PM

I agree with everyone that thinks when we are old and saggie the tat would be old and saggie too, and they do fade with time, My DH has had his redone and it still faded out. I think some take it too far, some are not too bad, but IMO the girl on LA ink is very pretty but way too many tats

gigi10 08-11-2011 12:36 PM

No not me.

Quiltaddict 08-11-2011 12:43 PM

Nope, no tattoos for me. My son has his whole arm tattooed and I hate it. Love him though.

Oh my yes, I look at my skin and think, if there were a tattoo on it, how awful it would look! The "young'uns" don't think they are ever going to look "crumpled" as my darling granddaughter said to me. ("Grandma, why is your neck crumpled?") Gotta love her!!!

quilt3311 08-11-2011 01:11 PM

Nope, but we did have a grand time after one of our quilt trips. We all bought one of the stick on tatoos and had a ball with it when we got home. My DH didn't fall for it though, he took one look and asked how long it would take to wash off. HE knows how much I HATE needles! of course quilting needles do not count. ha

Not for me either.

quilt3311 08-11-2011 01:15 PM

Oh, I forgot to mention, DS told me he was going to get a tattoo on his big toe, I just shook my head --then he told me it would read "try CPR one more time" He really had me going for a while though.

Judith1005 08-11-2011 01:27 PM

no, if i had it to do over again....i wouldn't get one at all!!! or i would have picked a diff place. where i wanted it instead of doing it for someone else :!: :!: :!: i was stupid!!!!!!!!!!

purplefiend 08-11-2011 01:41 PM

I'm not into pain...so no tattoo for me. I think all my freckles would spoil the look of a tattoo anyhow.
My DD has several.

Love that machine but it looks too painful LOL

Cute machine, but tatoos are no friend of gravity. Eventually they all look like blue blobs. I think God made us all in His image. I don't want to "paint by number" on that canvas, IMHO.

BellaBoo 08-11-2011 01:50 PM

No, just my personal preference to not like tattoos. I haven't seen one on any female I think is attractive. I usually just say when shown one, that's interesting. DD got a tiny one on her hip but had the easy to remove ink so she had no no scaring when she had it removed a few years later. Tattoos aren't cheap if done by a professional tattoo artist. Some run into thousands of dollars. DD's tiny frog was about $400 and close to $1000 to have removed. ?

EVERYTHING on the human body sags and bags as it ages!!!!

EXACTLY so why direct everyone's attention to it with extra color so the grandkids will definately see it and ask why granny's wrinkles are pink and blue?

I used to be a cop and the guys were very polite, open and honest with me. They said men may SAY they like tatoos on single women becuase they figure they might be "easy" but went on to say that no upright, self respecting man really wants a wife with a tatoo, because then other men will think that about her. The tramp stamps in the center of the lower back are put there to show off when women wear too short pants/shorts. The guys laugh, admitting they are there to "advertise" that part of the body.Yes, double standard..but such is life.

Hubby actually encouraged me to get my "tramp stamp" - and for the most part he's the only one who sees it. It was a couple years before my parents noticed - and that was because my shirt had ridden up while I was helping one of the kids tie their shoes.

I have a ladybug on my big toe. Tats on your toes fade sooooo quickly because the skin is renewing faster on toes and fingers than everywhere else. It's so faded now (12 years later) that you can barely even see it.

Whew! I'm glad then I didn't do it. lol

Lynneander 08-11-2011 02:18 PM

I'm a big chicken, so I would have to opt out!

When i was a wild and crazy "Harley Mama" many many moons ago I almost got one. I wanted a rose on the left side of my chest (higher though) I was on my way to the shop to get it; riding my bike of course and thinking about it. All of a sudden it dawned on me!! "What happens when you are old and the kids and grandkids have to take care of you? Do you really want them seeing a "long" stemmed rose? What would they think?" So I chickened out!

NDQuilts 08-11-2011 03:14 PM

Absolutely not.

NancyBelly 08-11-2011 03:27 PM

Once you reach a certain age you shouldn't care what wrinkled, sagging skin looks like! Really, who cares? My husband has one arm sleeved and is working on the other arm. I have no tatoos but I do have several piercings. He's going to turn 60 and I'm 58. But we also love Indie music and go to a lot of concerts where we're definitely the oldest people there. We plan on staying young forever!

rootyr 08-11-2011 03:37 PM

NO!

hmross 08-11-2011 04:21 PM

I don't have a quilt tatto but I do have a tatto. It is not as bad as it seems. Yes it hurt some but it was bearable. My mind made it way worse than it is.

You can give blood after having a tat. You just have to wait a certain length of time before you can give. I give all the time. My tat is 30 years old.

RobertaMarie 08-11-2011 04:45 PM

No way! Not for this old gal.

busygranny 08-11-2011 04:46 PM

Never!!!!! Can't understand anyone who does get one. Especially all these people who are in the process of covering their body.I like my clean perfect skin color and will keep it that way.

I got my first tattoo when I was 32. My father was fine with it but my BFF's father had a fit. He asked me "What are you going to do when you are 80 and in a nursing home?" My reply was that I would be an 80 yo woman in a nursing home with a tattoo!

I too have worked as a nurse in a nursing home and no, tattoos don't age well. I don't really think having a tattoo is about how it will look when you are old. It is an expression of the individual and what does it really matter what a tattoo looks like when you are old. Some people don't age well either!!![/quote]

Right on, girl! In the end people don't age well!
