Sucks doesn't it. Fulltime job, parttime job, cross stitching, quilting, baseball, bowling twice a week, cook, clean, shop. There is never enough time to devote to just one of those let alone all of them and then cram in 4 hours of sleep a night.

I can't believe all the stuff I used to do 25 years ago. Big garden, cut wood, pick wild strawberries, hand-quilt 6 hours a day, refinish furniture, AND my house was clean.
Of course all this was before the internet... |
The kids have all flown the nest, just hubby and I here at the house. I still work, hubby is retired, the. grand kids visit often. I never seem to have enough time to do anything. Maybe because I'm older, and I move slower, who knows. I know that when I was younger, I had a lot more energy. I could work 40 hours, cart the kids to soccer, swimming, school, church, play dates, clean, do laundry and then sew till 1 or 2 in the morning. Not anymore!! I need to get to bed by 9 or 9:30. I still get up at 4:30 in the morning.

I know what you mean. A few years back, I dabbled in every kind of handicraft there was. I sewed, quilted, latch hooked, locker hooked, cross stitched, knitted, scrapbooked, you name it I was doing it. 2 years ago, I decided that I needed to simplify my life, not just in what was going on around me personally but craft wise too. I decided that I wanted to focus mainly on quilting and sewing. I had a garage sale to clear out some things that were not necessary for me to survive and I sold every craft tool and supply that I owned that didn't pertain to quilting and sewing. It was so liberating to see all the clutter in my life leave the driveway. Plus, I made some money to buy more quilting and sewing items!!

You are all making me sad! I remember all the things I got done in my 30's and sometimes feel frustrated that I am slower and find it harder now. I do enjoy life a lot, though, and am blessed with the richest of blessings, so I will focus on that=and go on!!

Yep, I sold or gave away a lot of my craft stuff in favor of quilting.

Do what makes YOU happy and is less stressful :D:D:D

I think that it takes most woman a long time to realize that you can't do it all. I finally came to realize (after 50!) that if you have Mom or Mrs attached to your name, there are some things that may be very difficult or even impossible to do ie DH does not want me accepting a job even a well paying one 6 hours away! I have now decided to focus on the things that are important and those that make me happy. I can say no to a lot of those other things that sap my time and energy and bring me little pleasure or thanks. Women really do have to make choices.
