Susie,
Don't you love that feature on your machine? We learned how to do them in a class lecture. The teacher had us add a small piece of stabilizer behind the button hole. |
I have never had issues or fear of zippers so never have a oided them placed them in clothes as well as bags

I’ve been putting zippers in things for 50 years so they don’t phase me much. Sometimes I even choose a zipper over other recommended closures. Zippers vs. button holes....hmmmm guess I don’t mind buttonholes either- but might choose a zipper first if a choice is viable. 😉

It's not hard if we don't know it's hard, right? Are you ok with patterns that have zippers or are you on the avoid them train? I had to learn how to insert zippers in high school along with interfacing, darts, and hems. There are so many different techniques to sew them into the projects. They don't bother me. So zippers - - - love 'em or leave 'em? |

They don't bother me. I have been doing that for years.

I don't have many issues with zippers. I don't do them often. I put them in bags and crafty projects, but I don't repair clothes. I'll stick with quilting and crafts. LOL

when I put my zippers in cloths, like a back of a dress, I would baste the seam closed, press it open from the wrong side. get out your tape, Scott magic or clear is good. tape your zipper over the opening. so, the seam is facing up, and the zipper is facing down. run the zipper down the seam carefully and tape in place. a 7" should take 3-4 pieces to keep it tape basted. start at the top stitch down. cross over the bottom, and go straight up. then take off tape, and remove basting. you did iT!!

Chasing Hawk and Anniedeb I'm with you guys. I have 3 boys, when they were small I made all their clothes (back when it was still affordable) and I was forever replacing zippers in jeans and jackets. But if a made a shirt with 5 bottonholes you could bet money they were all different-I quit making themhttps://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...es/redface.png
