Does anyone know how much elastic is in a king size fitted sheet? Mine is so stretched and it needs replacing.

    Thanks!

I would just stretch it out fully and measure. Then take the new elastic and stretch it out to come up with the same amount. Had to to this with curtains.

measure down one long side, then one short side, then double it. Take off about one quarter of the total and stitch away. I usually do one L shape and then the other.
    Good luck

Do you make your own king size sheets, where do you get fabric big enough so you don't have seams?

I just replaced the elastic in some of my sheets....it goes way before the sheets are worn out! I have seen sheets in thrift stores that look new except for the elastic.....

That is a good idea. Never thought of that. Thank you for sharing. I have a good set that is stretched out too. Love to save it.

Rather than put elastic all the way around it, why not do it like the fitted sheets we used to get thst were straight at the sides and only had the elastic at the corners. As I recall they had a bit more seaming to create the snug fit...you know kinda like darts on a blouse (remember those???)

That's what I will do, just haven't had time to do it yet. :(

I don't make my own, I get all my sheets from QVC. They last a long long time.
