Sorry if this is in the wrong spot, I don't know where it would go.

I am VERY new to pay pal in fact just a few days to be exact.

The question I have is this....
When someone sends money through paypal do I have to deposit it into my bank account or can I use it to purchase stuff without it ever going into my bank account?

Thanks for everyones answers. :)

You can leave it in your PayPal account and use it for whatever. I never do though. I've never had a problem with PayPal, but feel safer if it's in my bank.

Tip: DO NOT EVER click on an email that says you need to update your info in your PayPal account. There are spammers who's email looks like it's from PayPal, but isn't. It's always best to go to the address bar and type in PayPal.com and log in directly. They will never email you and ask for your info.

Can I but I here and ask what percentage you pay to receive money by Paypal? I'll be selling a pattern soon and as I'm in England, Paypal would be the best way for you ladies and gents in the States to buy! I am used to buying myself usingPaypal but have never received money that way. I guess I could check my Paypal account, but whilst we were talking about it...

I just looked on Paypal and it would cost me 3.9% per transaction plus £0.20. :-D

If it is not a lot of money, I leave it in. That way I can buy fabric and DH has no clue.I also have a bank account used just for paypal. I had a fraud happen to me. They took out money from my account. A lot of money, and it took a week to get it back. They hold it till it clears. I noticed it within the hour of it happening and there was no way to stop it. We could have put a stop payment on it except we were on vacation. I still trust paypal, but just understand it more. Use a strong password.

Here is a Paypal fee calculator that calculates the 2.9%, plus $.30 fee to accept payment thru Paypal. It is 3.9%, plus $.30 to accept "cross-border" payments.
