Default Questions about Zippers by the Yard

I know a lot of people use these and I'd like some information about them...where do you buy them...and the pulls to go with them...do you buy assorted colors or neutral colors...the cheapest place to buy them, etc.

I read the post by Grandma Mary where she made the sets of "Little Duffles" and thought they we we so cute but also thought it would be costly to buy three zippers for each set when you are cutting g zippers down to size for them.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

I believe Nancy's Notions sells them as well as newarkdress.com and homesew.com.

You can buy them at upholstery supply shops and the pulls come in separate packages. They are wonderful!

I bought mine at a local upholstery supplier ... not from the upholsterer. They even put on the sliders for me as I knew it would be worse that awkward if I attempted it.

Sullivan's makes them, in addition to the other zipper manufacturers. THey normally come with a dozen pulls. You cut the tape to whatever size you need and add the pull. You can buy more pulls if needed.

I buy mine from Alicia aka The Zipper Lady - http://thezipperlady.com/

Her prices and service are great and she has every size and color you could ever want. Right now she's got several sizes and colors on sale at a great price.

MaryMulari.com also she has a book with patterns that shows you how to make change purses etc. Fairly easy to use.

Google ''zippers''and the links are endless. I needed a 28 inch HD metal toothed zipper for my nephews Carhart and I found every thing but what I needed -my son finally found one on a military site. The HD metal zips stop at 24 inches in all the fabric store sites.
